Trained by day, Joe Rogan Podcast by night, all day.
Brandon Coleman (0:12)
Well, I mean, we haven't done many podcasts, but we were on Theo's last year, and you know, Theo's gets a lot of engagement, a lot of views, ours didn't do too well. I think Burt cast it all right.
Joe Rogan (0:25)
You can't not pay attention.
Brandon Coleman (0:27)
I know I don't.
Joe Rogan (0:27)
You can't not pay attention. Don't pay attention to numbers. Don't pay attention to shit. Don't read the comments.
Andrew Bishop (0:33)
That's where I messed up. I got called a lesbian so many times. Andrew was a mustache lesbian. Mustache lesbian. He looks like Matthew McConaughey.
Joe Rogan (0:41)
I don't know. Might be the chain.
Andrew Bishop (0:44)
Maybe.
Joe Rogan (0:44)
That looks very lesbian-esque.
Andrew Bishop (0:47)
Thank you. My sister-in-law made it.
Joe Rogan (0:48)
Not a bad one. It's not bad. It's not wrong with being a lesbian.
Andrew Bishop (0:52)
No, nothing's wrong with being a lesbian. I'm just a heterosexual male.
Joe Rogan (0:57)
With a wonderful mustache.
Brandon Coleman (0:59)
I went back to the comments last night, and somebody was like, Andrew, come on, man. Don't sit with your legs crossed. That was the latest one.
Andrew Bishop (1:08)
Why is it always me getting picked on?
Joe Rogan (1:10)
Did you sit with your legs crossed in the typical liberal fashion? I mean, like the Gavin Newsom style?
Brandon Coleman (1:16)
Yeah, you can't do that.
Drew Nix (1:17)
Just chill.
Joe Rogan (1:19)
You got a little bit of a gap there. The thing is, if you get the real, the deep scissor, the deep scissor is like signaling.
Andrew Bishop (1:26)
The trick is, you gotta scoop then.
Drew Nix (1:29)
Yeah.
Andrew Bishop (1:29)
You gotta get your stuff out the way.
Joe Rogan (1:31)
Yeah, I don't know. Doesn't seem comfortable.
Andrew Bishop (1:36)
I've been doing it for a long time.
Joe Rogan (1:40)
So you guys are, you were telling me you're kind of burnt right now. So you guys are fully on the road right now.
Brandon Coleman (1:46)
Oh yeah, I say that and then the next moment, I'm all kind of like, dang, this is fun. But yeah, we're usually about this time of the year where we have a couple more months left. It's like, man, we're almost done. Get to be home for a while, more than two days at a time.
Joe Rogan (2:00)
How long have you guys been on the road for?
Brandon Coleman (2:02)
To this year or just in general?
Joe Rogan (2:04)
Well, all told.
Brandon Coleman (2:06)
We started touring in Andrews Acadia in 2018
Joe Rogan (2:09)
And has it been flat out since then?
Brandon Coleman (2:12)
Pretty much.
Andrew Bishop (2:12)
Just a little breaks?
Brandon Coleman (2:14)
Yeah, we break in December for Christmas. But it's gotten better. This year we started touring in July, which was good, because we would usually start in April or May.
Joe Rogan (2:28)
When did you end?
Brandon Coleman (2:30)
We end in December.
Joe Rogan (2:32)
Oh, okay. That's not too bad.
Andrew Bishop (2:34)
No. Last year we started in March with Canada.
Brandon Coleman (2:38)
Yeah, Canada. But that was like a month. That didn't really count.
Joe Rogan (2:42)
How long have you guys been together, all told?
Brandon Coleman (2:44)
We got, so, Red Clay Strays got together in December 2016 But before that, Drew was the manager of a cover band, and Andrew was the bass player in the cover band.
Drew Nix (3:00)
And-
Joe Rogan (3:01)
What were you guys covering?
Andrew Bishop (3:02)
Everything.
Brandon Coleman (3:03)
Good stuff.
Drew Nix (3:04)
Just blues, just like really bad blues.
Andrew Bishop (3:08)
Yeah, we used to run people out.
Brandon Coleman (3:09)
In country.
Joe Rogan (3:10)
And how did you guys all get together?
Brandon Coleman (3:13)
I met Drew through a mutual friend. We were working out in the gym together. I was in high school, and Drew, this guy was like, hey man, I got a buddy.
He's kind of down on his luck. He's like squatting in my dorm and I want to give him something to do. I want to give him something to do.
Drew Nix (3:33)
I didn't think I was down on my luck that bad.
Brandon Coleman (3:38)
I'm just repeating what I heard. Yeah, so Drew had never done anything like that. He had never booked or was trying to be a middle school teacher football coach. That's what he was going to college for.
