I'm Alice, and I'm Brett, and this is The Prosecutors Legal Briefs. Welcome back to The Prosecutors Legal Briefs. I'm your host, Alice, and I'm joined as always by Deja Vu co-host Brett.

Brett Talley (2:00)

As you said in one of our recent episodes, Alice, we really only cover three cases. Yeah, we cover Delphi, we cover Murdaugh, we cover Lindsay Clancy, and-

Alice LaCour (2:10)

End of list.

Brett Talley (2:11)

Yeah, we just continuous, you know, we're like Sisyphus pushing that rock up the hill.

SPEAKER_3 (2:16)

Rolling back down.

Alice LaCour (2:18)

Getting crushed by lack of rule of law and clickbait.

Brett Talley (2:22)

Yes, absolutely.

SPEAKER_3 (2:23)

Well, so we were- Lindsay clickbait today.

Alice LaCour (2:25)

I was like, look, let's not cover this, but here's the thing. Whenever anything happens in Lindsay Clancy, and look, we've called it straight to you guys when something seems like, wow, this is crazy what's happening with the jury, we tell you. But when the internet loses its mind over a hearing that happened today, and I'll tell you what the headline is, but I'll hide the ball around here. The headline, of course, was OMG.

Reddington, which is, of course, Lindsay Clancy's attorney, is arguing she didn't even kill the kids. So, that's the click bait. And so, of course, we have to get on and tell you what happened at the hearing today, which is actually as many things have been going on and will go on until the next retrial if there is one. Pretty rote and regular legal arguments that are made in court. So, yeah.

Brett Talley (3:12)

I mean, every time we have one of these big cases, I think, this is great. It's a good opportunity to educate people about the way the law works. And then something happens, like, to this day, and it's like the legal analyst on CNN is talking about how bizarre this is and, like, the Fox News guy is talking about this dramatic change. And I'm just, I just want to cry in my hands. I just want to cry because I was going to tell you, nothing happened today that was particularly interesting, different, unique. It was a completely boring day from a legal perspective. It was only interesting from a click bait, twisted, either don't understand how the law works or prefer not to understand because they get more clicks if they act like it was some sort of big deal. So just going to go into it, we're two minutes in, nothing happened. Don't worry about it. Feel free to sign off and go about your day. Yeah. We'll explain why.

Alice LaCour (4:04)

And I was going to say, you know, it's actually very indicative when you look at the feed and it was like two hours of staring at the seal because nothing happened because the media, if you can't already tell, in a regular YouTube stream of an argument, they would have cut out those two hours and gotten to the 30 minutes of argument. The reason they left it all in is they're convinced that someone's going to come out, kind of like in the Karen Reed case, the FBI are going to come in and arrest the entire conspiracy. Like she's going to come out and start, you know, like Patrick's going to run and be like, I did do it. None of that happened.

Brett Talley (4:37)

Helicopters are going to land in Patrick's yard, and heavily armed men are going to go get him or whatever. He lives in New York now, so he probably didn't have a yard. Okay, so there are three things that you need to remember. What happened today is not unusual, is nothing different, nothing changed. Reddington isn't changing his strategy, he isn't changing what he said.
