New Meta: DotA 2 Podcast

May 21, 2019

In this edition of New Meta the trio have put their heads down and created the most comprehensive and effective guide to playing the offlane ever seen in the podcast format (probably).
Speakers: Marco, Adam
**SPEAKER_2** (0:12)
Hello, welcome to New Meta, episode 23 Today, we're talking about how to play Offlane. And the four crews reunited, Marco and Adam. Marco, welcome to a special Offlane edition of New Meta. How are you?

**Marco** (0:26)
I'm doing great. Excited for this chunky, chunky topic.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:32)
Yeah, super chunky. Adam likewise, welcome to the pod. Ready to talk about some three?

**Adam** (0:37)
Yeah, big, big topic today.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:41)
Big pod, yeah.

**Adam** (0:42)
Three pages of notes to get through. Hopefully, it doesn't take three hours.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:47)
Yeah, let's hope so. Because you actually have a day ahead of you, unlike me and Marco who are, what, six hours ahead. So our day's closing up.

**Adam** (0:57)
Yeah, somehow we did 82 minutes, just you and I last time.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:01)
Yeah, it made no sense. I don't understand how that was like a longer episode. It felt like we just talked about... Honestly, I think us talking about our game was longer than the actual game.

**Adam** (1:11)
Yeah, for sure.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:14)
But yeah, so today is the promised episode of learning to play off lane. Before we do some roundups, as usual, Adam, I'll start with you because I believe you had your first RD12 League match, was it?

**Adam** (1:35)
Yeah, our first official was yesterday, or were yesterday. Yeah, so we didn't really get to play throughout the week. Last week, we two out scrim week, so I was feeling pretty good. And then we were like, let's play some games before our officials. So we played three and we lost three games.
We weren't really close. It's like, oh no.

**Marco** (2:00)
Oh no.

**Adam** (2:03)
And then we got into the officials. In the first game, we lost in 22 minutes, and it was absolute stomp. They had a TA that was 10 and And our AM never got a battle fury by the time the game was over. And we lost all three lanes really hard.
It's like, all right, let's try this again. And then, and then game two, I'll say, I'll say, game one, we lost all three lanes really hard. But at 10 minutes, it was still like four to eight or something. So it wasn't like the most egregious laning stage ever. I mean, we were behind four to eight in kills, but, you know, that was even though we lost every lane. And then the next game, we lost all three lanes even harder. And at 10 minutes, no, yeah, 10 minutes, it was 17 to four. We were behind, but we actually came back in one. So it feels good.

**Marco** (3:12)
Nice.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:13)
It's funny. I actually watched this morning some of the games because in the Discord shout to the Discord, you've got your RD2L team section or whatever. I like Reddit. And you linked the stream for one of the players on the, like the support of the other team or something.

**Adam** (3:32)
Right, she streams.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:33)
Yeah, what's through her perspective? Not all of the games, but like some of it. So that was quite fun. Yeah, you did get worked pretty hard in that first game. That was pretty rough.

**Adam** (3:43)
Yeah, I didn't even rewatch that one. I did not want to relive it.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:46)
The funniest part of the whole thing for me was in the game two draft when you pick oracle at the end, and they're like bamboozled and they don't know what's going on. They realize that it's a bounties core or whatever, but they're like, come dine with me oracle. And I was like, what? This man's renowned around the world.

**Adam** (4:07)
Yeah, they were a little flamey in their team comms. So it felt good to win. They were calling us idiots. And yeah, and stuff.

**Marco** (4:21)
And a toxic after deal.

**Adam** (4:24)
I don't know if they were just trying to like hype themselves up. You know, go on this idiot, go on this retard type of stuff.

**Marco** (4:32)
That sounds an enemy.

**Adam** (4:34)
Yeah, but then it felt good to turn it around. We had a bounty hunt. So we first picked Bounty Hunter, I guess first phase because we were second pick. And then we always had the option of flexing it to one position.

**SPEAKER_2** (4:50)
Yeah.

**Adam** (4:50)
And so when they last picked Batrider, like, okay, we'll just play four Oracle, take off Napalm Stacks.

**SPEAKER_2** (4:59)
Yeah, which seems pretty good.

**Adam** (5:01)
Switch Bounty to one, put Monkey King mid.

**Marco** (5:05)
So what was five if Oracle was full?

**Adam** (5:09)
Dazzle.

**SPEAKER_2** (5:10)
Razzle Dazzle.

**Adam** (5:12)
