And then, after all that, Zach Cregger joins me to break down Resident Evil, his amazing new success video game adaptation. Zach has come on for all of his films. This time, he was in person. He's incredibly insightful and fun and funny to talk about movies with. You'll want to stick around for that, which is a slightly spoiler-filled conversation. But first, some movie news right after this.

Sean Fennessey (2:35)
Okay, there's a lot of news going on.
Amanda Dobbins (2:36)
Yes.
Sean Fennessey (2:37)
There's a lot.
I feel like I saw you every day this weekend. We hung out a lot, and yet we didn't talk about any of this stuff.
Amanda Dobbins (2:43)
Well, yeah, because we didn't actually talk that much.
SPEAKER_2 (2:45)
We were just running after.
Amanda Dobbins (2:46)
Yeah, and we played soccer with them. I guess I did see you every day.
SPEAKER_2 (2:50)
That's nice to be back with you.
Sean Fennessey (2:51)
Nice to be back with you as well. I played a lot of soccer with your son. He's getting very good.
Resident Evil made $60 million in the United States of America. This is Cregger's biggest movie of all time. It's a $108 million global debut, biggest opening in franchise history, biggest opening of Cregger's career, biggest opening ever for an R-rated video game adaptation. And I think he goes into the Jordan Peele, name brand, this person has a movie coming out, and now we need to go to see it.
Amanda Dobbins (3:19)
It's not on the Nolan scale, but no one but Christopher Nolan is on the Nolan scale.
Sean Fennessey (3:24)
And it's not Tarantino, it's not Spielberg, but it's pretty name brand, you know?
Amanda Dobbins (3:28)
I went to the first available showing at a 2 p.m. on a Thursday in Pasadena. I was the only woman there, but there were people seemingly solo, there were a couple buzz.
Sean Fennessey (3:40)
I saw it a second time last night and there were a lot of dates.
Amanda Dobbins (3:42)
Oh, that's nice. I don't know how many of these were dates. It was mostly just people who had the vibe of, my guy released a new movie and so I'm there at 2 p.m. on Thursday to see it. And I was also there for that reason.
Sean Fennessey (3:54)
Okay. We'll talk about your thoughts on the movie in a little bit.
And Zach will talk a lot more about making the movie, which I think people will enjoy. So Paramount is going to settle the lawsuits and the merger is going to happen.
