What if theology isn’t just for scholars and pastors, but something that can transform the way we live, parent, and connect with God?

I have always thought that sweet and salty is one of those combinations that just makes sense, like something that can be perfectly good on its own, but add just a little salt to something sweet, and suddenly it's 10 times better. So I was very excited when Ka'Chava came out with their new flavor, salted caramel. Caramel is already good, but that little bit of salt just makes the whole thing work. And what I love about Ka'Chava is that it's not just something that tastes good. Two scoops give you plant-based protein, fiber, greens, and so much more in one really simple shake. It's an easy way to help fill some of those nutritional gaps, especially on days when you're busy and just need something quick. And there aren't any artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. It's just clean nutrition that actually tastes delicious. Embrace your salty side. Go to kachava.com and use code 1000HOURS for 15% off your first order. That's ka'chava, spelled kachava.com, code 1000HOURS.

You know, there are so many little things we do as parents to help our kids sleep well. We get them outside, keep them moving, try to limit screens at night. But one thing I hadn't thought much about was how they're actually breathing while they sleep.

A lot of parents don't realize their kids may be sleeping with their mouths open. And persistent mouth breathing can be associated with restless sleep, dry mouth, moodiness, oral health concerns, and even development. That is where Muzzle Kids Tape comes in.

It is a simple bedtime tool designed to greatly encourage lip closure and support nasal breathing. And what I really like as a mom is their patented Breathe Safe Center Opening. It doesn't completely seal the mouth, so there's still room to talk, cough, sneeze, or drink water if needed. They make Muzzle for adults too, so it can be a simple nighttime habit for the whole family.

Go to muzzlesleep.com and use code 1000HOURS for 10% off. That's muzzlesleep.com. Promo code 1000HOURS.

Welcome to the 1000 Hours Outside Podcast. My name is Ginny Yurich and I'm the founder of 1000HOURS Outside. And I'm so honored and excited to have Lisa Harper back with me. With us today, last time we talked about the fact...

Lisa Harper (2:10)

Your grin makes me so happy. I could just look at your face and I would have a better day. I love that you grin while you talk.

Ginny Yurich (2:17)

Well, I think last time we talked about the fact that we both have big heads.

Lisa Harper (2:21)

I have a huge head. I have a huge head. I need to lean back because I have such a... No, look, they match. And people think I'm insecure about it. I'm like, no, I'm 63 I'm fine. I just have a hard time getting hats that fit. But truly, Ginny, whenever people... Do you do this? Like if people... If I'm taking a picture with friends, I kind of just naturally just step back a little bit because otherwise it's... And again, I'm fine with it. I'm fine with having a big head. But it is so out of proportion with some of my friends. And some of my friends have especially small heads because they have especially small bodies. And it looks like, hi, I'm Lisa from the large head planet. I mean, it's hilarious.

Ginny Yurich (2:58)

All right, let's talk about this new book that you have out. It is called... It's beautiful, by the way. All of your books are always beautiful. Theology For the Rest of Us.

Lisa Harper (3:05)

No, I haven't liked a lot of my books. That one, I actually love the cover.

Ginny Yurich (3:09)

I love it. I love it. It's like a mosaic, it's gorgeous. A user-friendly guide to super cool, really transformational stuff about God and why it matters. This is a book of 50 different words. You say you're a word person, you love words, you're a word nerd. What's interesting about the words is that they include words that everybody knows, like grace. That's one of them. People name their kids Grace. Then it includes things like biblical translatory variants.

It was like one to the next, to the next. You're like, well, I've heard the word. Now, I've heard the word kerygma, but only because of your events. I've heard the word covenant, but I've never heard of the phylloqueue clause.

The hypostatic.

Lisa Harper (3:54)

Phylloqueue clause or apophatic theology.

Ginny Yurich (3:57)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_3 (3:58)

There's some cool ones.

Ginny Yurich (3:59)

I pronounce them all wrong.

Lisa Harper (4:01)

You know this. It doesn't matter if you can spell it or use it on words with friends. But the concept behind the terms, that's why even the word theology, that's why I put that crazy subtitle, is I think oftentimes people hear the word theology and they think, oh, academics.
