I have always thought that sweet and salty is one of those combinations that just makes sense, like something that can be perfectly good on its own, but add just a little salt to something sweet, and suddenly it's 10 times better. So I was very excited when Kachava came out with their new flavor, salted caramel. Caramel is already good, but that little bit of salt just makes the whole thing work. And what I love about Kachava is that it's not just something that tastes good. Two scoops give you plant-based protein, fiber, greens, and so much more in one really simple shake. It's an easy way to help fill some of those nutritional gaps, especially on days when you're busy and just need something quick. And there aren't any artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. It's just clean nutrition that actually tastes delicious. Embrace your salty side. Go to kachava.com and use code 1000HOURS for 15% off your first order. That's kachava, spelled kachava.com.
Code 1000HOURS.
You know, there are so many little things we do as parents to help our kids sleep well. We get them outside, keep them moving, try to limit screens at night. But one thing I hadn't thought much about was how they're actually breathing while they sleep. A lot of parents don't realize their kids may be sleeping with their mouths open, and persistent mouth breathing can be associated with restless sleep, dry mouth, moodiness, oral health concerns, and even development. That is where Muzzle Kids Tape comes in.
It is a simple bedtime tool designed to greatly encourage lip closure and support nasal breathing. And what I really like as a mom is their patented Breathe Safe Center opening. It doesn't completely seal the mouth, so there's still room to talk, cough, sneeze, or drink water if needed. They make Muzzle for adults too, so it can be a simple nighttime habit for the whole family. Go to muzzlesleep.com and use code 1000HOURS for 10% off. That's muzzlesleep.com, promo code 1000HOURS.

Is that you have a new book coming out. Surrounding the topic of this song that so many of us have heard and sing and love called Counting My Blessings. And you have turned this into a stunning children's book that's filled with a ton of nature. Absolutely loved it. A lot of nature references as well. So this is out now. Go grab a copy for your kids, for the kids in your life that you love. You have an incredibly successful Christian singer songwriter.
And you've had this breakout song, Counting My Blessings, but also other incredible hits. And we're going to talk a little bit today about your background story, which includes the fact, I'm pretty sure that you were homeschooled.
Seph Schlueter (3:00)
Yes. Yeah. Homeschooled. Homeschooled for pretty much my whole life.
Ginny Yurich (3:04)
Let's start there. So a lot of our listeners homeschool. We're a homeschooling family. You homeschool with a bunch of siblings.
Seph Schlueter (3:11)
Yeah. One of six.
Ginny Yurich (3:12)
One of six. You're the oldest of the boys.
Seph Schlueter (3:15)
Oldest boy. Yeah.
Ginny Yurich (3:16)
Okay. So can you talk about that experience growing up? What did you use your time for? What kind of a homeschooler was your mom?
Seph Schlueter (3:24)
Yeah, we're kind of all over. So we initially went to private school, like for preschool, kindergarten, first grade. And right around that time, my older sister was just like having some struggles in school. And my parents are like, we're going to homeschool. And like where I lived, it was not an ordinary thing to homeschool at all initially. So it was kind of this crazy thing. We really didn't have a ton of friends doing it.
But my mom did it for her. And I was like, I'm never going to be homeschooled. I would hate that because I like I'm such like a people. I was like, even then, like back in first grade, I was such like a people person. And after like a year, after like that, by the end of that year, I was begging to be homeschooled. I was like, I need to be homeschooled. I like just saw my sister like, you know, having more free time and things like that. And I remember just kind of being bored in school. And I was like, man, I would love to be homeschooled. So my parents kind of pivoted and they ended up homeschooling all the rest of us, the rest of our education. And I like, it was such a blessing, like looking back in particular and seeing all the ways that I was able to have free time. I mean, playing outside, we loved like, we didn't have video games or anything. So it was, and like really didn't use like technology that much. My parents were pretty strict about that. So we spent so much time outside, playing, inventing games, you know, being superheroes or Star Wars characters or whatever, like just playing like make believe. Or I played music a lot. I started taking piano lessons when I was five. And that I just like fell in love with music. And so particularly like more towards high school, like I was, I just spent a lot of time playing music, singing, doing a little bit of songwriting even.
