Hey friends, welcome back, and happy Sunday. We have such a good week ahead, and I'm really glad you're here to start it with me. Ebie Hepworth is joining me today. Her brand new book is called Midnight Hallelujah, Why Hope Is Still Worth the Risk, and it is beautiful and heart-wrenching and hopeful all at once. Ebie has walked through some incredibly hard things, and one thing I really appreciated about this book is that she isn't writing from the other side of all of it. She is still in the middle of her story, and she's writing about what it looks like to I'm glad to hope there. I love this conversation, and I think you will too. Here is Ebie Hepworth.

Here is something I think a lot of parents today. You probably don't pay much attention to. Is your child sleeping with their mouth open? We spend so much time thinking about what helps our kids sleep. Getting enough movement, spending time outside, winding down at night. But how they're breathing while they sleep matters too. Persistent mouth breathing can be associated with restless sleep.

Oral Health Concerns and Even Development. I'm Muzzle, Kid's Tape. This is a really simple tool, designed to gently encourage... Thank you for joining us for The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast. What makes Muzzle different is their patented Breathe Safe Center Opening. It doesn't completely seal them out. Which makes it feel much more approachable as a parent. And Muzzle makes adult options too. For anyone dealing with night time mouth breathing. Or waking up with a dry mouth.

I have always thought that sweet and salty is one of those combinations that just make sense, like something that can be perfectly good on its own, but add just a little salt to something sweet, and suddenly it's 10 times better. So I was very excited when Kachava came out with their new flavor, salted caramel. Caramel is already good, but that little bit of salt just makes the whole thing work. And what I love about Kachava is that it's not just something that tastes good. Two scoops give you plant-based protein, fiber, greens, and so much more in one really simple shake. It's an easy way to help fill some of those nutritional gaps, especially on days when you're busy and just need something quick. And there aren't any artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. It's just clean nutrition that actually tastes delicious. Embrace your salty side. Go to kachava.com and use code 1000 hours for 15% off your first order. That's kachava, spelled kachava.com.

Code 1000 hours.

My name is Ginny Yurich and the founder of 1000 Hours Outside, and I'm honored to bring Ebie Hepworth to you today. Ebie has written a brand new book, and it's a beautiful book, and it is a heart-wrenching book, and it is a book that will help you in your life. It is called Midnight Hallelujah, Why Hope Is Still Worth the Risk. Ebie, welcome.

Ebie Hepworth (3:27)

I'm so happy to be with you, Ginny.

Ginny Yurich (3:29)

So this is a book I would imagine that was hard to write, and probably a little nerve-wracking to put out into the world because you're sharing some of your deepest disappointments. And alongside of that, you are helping the reader to walk themselves through their own disappointments and still hold on to hope. Yes. And you did this really, really unique premise of this book.

It was sort of like hand-in-hand, you share your story, and then you also are relating it and using your imagination to think about Sarah's story from the Bible.

Ebie Hepworth (4:04)

Yes.

Ginny Yurich (4:04)

So could you take us back to the moment? You know, everyone has like a spark of inspiration at some point, because this is a very unique way to write a book. Do you remember when you were like, that's what I'm going to do?

Ebie Hepworth (4:15)

I do. I do remember it. And it's funny because even when I was pitching it to the publishers, I really had to be clear. I want you to know I'm not talking to the dead, and I'm not talking to this imaginary. And this imaginary conversation with Sarah, it really was where it started was I thought, God, I deeply want a friend that I can relate to in scripture that points to Jesus. Someone who is well versed in sorrow, well versed in disappointment, you know, that is named faithful. And then Hebrews 11, it calls Sarah faithful. But as I look at her story, I'm like, this chick has lived a story.
