There are so many things we think about when we think about our kids' future. What will they become? Who will they marry? Where will they live? What will our family look like 10, 20, 30 years from now? And somewhere along the way, we realize that planning for their future also means planning for the possibility that life doesn't go exactly the way we hope. That's why we have life insurance. Not because we live afraid of what might happen. Actually, it's the opposite. It gives us peace of mind, knowing that if something happened to one of us, the other wouldn't suddenly be trying to figure out how to support five kids while also dealing with unimaginable loss. If you've been putting this off, Ethos makes getting life insurance remarkably simple. It's 100% online. You can get a quote in seconds, apply in minutes, and potentially get same-day coverage. There's no medical exam, just a few simple health questions. You can get up to $3 million in coverage, with some policies as low as $30 a month. You spend your whole life taking care of your family. This is one more way to take care of their future. Take 10 minutes to get covered today with life insurance through Ethos. Get a free quote at ethos.com/1000hours. That's ethos.com/1000hours.

There are certain flavors that immediately make you feel like you're 8 years old again. And for me, one of those is that cinnamony sweet breakfast flavor. Like the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl, they absolutely were not going to leave behind. So when Kachava came out with Cinnamon French Toast, I thought, okay, this is very much speaking my language. It's warm and cinnamony, and just has that really nostalgic breakfast flavor. And they actually use real cinnamon bark, which I think is why it tastes so rich, instead of having that fake overly sweet cinnamon taste. And meanwhile, it's Kachava. So two scoops give you plant-based protein, fiber, greens, and so much more. It's one of those rare things that tastes like a treat, but is actually giving your body something substantial. Treat yourself to a childhood favorite. Go to kachava.com and use code 1000HOURS for 15% off your first order. That's kachava, kachava.com.

I'm the founder of 1000 Hours Outside. And I read a book recently. It is called When Intelligence Isn't Human, Navigating Your Faith in the Age of AI. It's really about navigating a lot of things in the age of AI.
So wild that we're in this spot. Ben Peterson is here to talk to us about this and also some other things as well, because this isn't your only book and you also have a lot of extra resources. Ben, welcome.
Ben Peterson (2:30)
Hey Ginny, you're just a barrel of fun. I am already having a great time being on this show.
Ginny Yurich (2:37)
Oh yeah, good, good. Three minutes in and you're having a good time. That's fantastic. I hope it remains.
Let's talk about this topic that you bring up in this book that basically AI is in a lot of cases taking the role of parent. You use father because this is often the case where kids are growing up without a dad in the home, but it could be either parent or if parents are kind of distracted, they're real busy, that's what's going on today. But in your particular case, your dad did pass away and he was not there for you in these big monumental seasons of life, getting married, having a child, work and all of those types of things. Can you talk about the draw of using AI as a replacement for that and what you think the long-term consequences would be?
Ben Peterson (3:27)
Yeah, so I run a ministry that is on 10 active duty military bases, ministering to our Defenders of Freedom, it's called Engage Your Destiny. And that's really where Ginny, this was birthed.
People have been shocked that a military veteran ministry guy is writing a book on this topic. But the majority of the people that our organization ministers to, their ages are 18 to 26
And what we are seeing, Ginny, right now is a fatherless generation. And this is happening both with fathers and mothers where over 50% of Gen Z is growing up without both parents in the home. And I'm a full believer that you need a mom and a dad. They both are essential. One is not more important than the other. And I come back to this role of the father in our lives. My wife always kind of says, like, you have the heavenly father and then you have the Holy Spirit. And she always says, you're the representation of the heavenly father and I'm the representation of the Holy Spirit.
