I'm the founder of 1000Hours Outside. What a treat. I'm such an accomplished woman here today. Susie Larson, bestselling author of close to 25 books.
It's hard to even know what number she's on. A national speaker, host of the popular radio show Susie Larson Live. And you are just putting out info.
I read this new book more than you can imagine. It's like encouraging, encouraging information, like blessings, a message that God loves you, that God will redeem your story, and an overflow of this type of information. And that's what we need. That's what we need right now. So true.
**Susie Larson** (1:43)
So true. We were being bombarded by bad news, and there's so much good news. And honestly, the good news outweighs the bad news. So it's important to have these conversations.
**Ginny Yurich** (1:52)
It is. What's your history? Can you talk about how does someone become the type of person that has written 24, 25 books?
**Susie Larson** (1:59)
Well, there is a verse. I know you've got an audience of different people, different persuasions, but I'm coming as someone who was just redeemed by a God who loves me, and I was the least likely. There's a verse in the Bible that talks about, he chooses the foolish to shame the wise, you know? And I am the poster child for the things that are not, you know? So I'll give you a little context, and I don't want to give people whiplash, because some of my backstory is difficult, but it comes out of, I mean, God redeems stories, and we can all be trophies of grace. And oftentimes, I think the harder parts of our story, we kind of try to shove down, but I think if we can bring those before God and give him a chance to heal us, they become some of the most powerful parts of our story and our lives. So I was raised in a large family of seven kids, and I, first of all, I just love what you do. I mean, I love, love the outdoors. That's where I heal. And when I tell you my story, you'll explain how important the outdoors has been. And I just, I'm a little off topic, but I got to say this. So whenever I release a book, my publisher does these little quote cards for me, and they always have scenic pictures on them because the heavens declare the glory of God, you know? I mean, outdoors should remind you that there's a meticulous and miraculous God who pays attention to detail and loves you and delights in every detail of your life. So, you know, these quote cards are all filled with scenic pictures that will take your breath away.
So I just want to say, I love that you exist. I love that you're encouraging people to get outside. Even, I've studied a lot on brain science and neuro health because of what I'm about to tell you about my own health. And my health practitioners tell me I have to get outside on the hour. I have to hear birds. I have to take deep breaths to regulate my nervous system. And again, I'll explain that why, but I feel like what you're doing is far more important than people know.
It's not just to get away from your screens. It literally is to connect with God, to regulate your body, to heal your brain, to restore your soul. So I'm just going to pray that God expands your influence, Ginny, beyond your wildest dreams, because I think you're kind of ahead of your time.
