I'm so excited to get the opportunity to talk to a woman who is working hard, continually working at balancing out how do we win at work and how do we also win at life, succeed at both things. Megan Hyatt Miller, welcome to you.

Ginny, I'm so excited to be with you. I told you before we started recording that I think I'm more excited to be on this podcast than any podcast I've ever been on. I'm just such a big fan. I'm like fangirling over here. So, yay.

I think these are critical topics. I never expect it to be a working weather. I thought maybe I'd pittle around this or that. Pittle is kind of a weird word, isn't it?
I taught piano lessons. I'd work like eight hours a week, something like that. Kind of a little extra money on the side. Then, life is changing quick. So, you may have a thought that you're going to be at home with kids, but it might change. So, this concept of being able to win in both arenas is huge.

Yeah. Well, kind of like you, I ended up in a little bit of an unconventional path toward ultimately having a company and leading a company. I was a stay-at-home mom who had adopted two kids from Uganda. I'd married into two and then later adopted two. So, I was kind of insta-mom to four kids, and now five, and my kids now are 25 to seven years old. So, I've got a wide range of kids at every age and stage.
When we adopted in 2011, our boys that we adopted were three and 14 months old, and pretty quickly, I realized that their needs were far beyond what I understood. I mean, I was super naive. I thought, we have Whole Foods and Target and lots of love and a big family. It'll be great. Little did I know it was going to take a lot more than that to help them heal from what they had been through. At the same time, my dad, Michael Hyatt, who is my business partner, was not at the time, but we were working together, and the business was taking off and he wanted me to become the COO. I thought, man, I know I can do that. I know my family needs this financially because as you said, the therapies and things my kids needed were really costly.
