I don't know exactly when it happened, but somewhere along the way, adulthood turned into having a folder full of things you hope you never actually need. Birth certificates, passports, warranties you'll probably lose anyway, and life insurance. None of it is exciting, nobody wakes up thinking, today's the day I'm finally going to shop for life insurance. But if you've got people depending on you, it's one of those things that feels really good to have crossed off the list. That's why I like what Ethos is doing. And so many people we've talked to. Joseph is the founder of 1000 Hours Outside Podcast. He's the founder of 1000 Hours Outside Podcast.

**Anne Graham Lotz** (1:21)
He's the founder of 1000 Hours Outside Podcast. And so many people we've talked to. Joseph is their favorite story too. It's just an amazing story, but Rachel-Ruth has pulled out some incredible things in the book that just bring it alive.

**Ginny Yurich** (1:34)
Yes.
It's a story with a lot of elements. And so there's a lot to get from it. So I would love to kick it off with, sometimes in our lives we have these dramatic changes that are very sudden. And you talk about this in the book, the story of Joseph. So people haven't read it. He was sold into slavery by his brothers. And the day started off just like any other day. So can you talk to the person who is going about their daily life, just like Joseph, he's heading out to see his brothers. His dad wants him to go do this. And you write, he had no way of knowing he would never return. He could never have imagined that within hours, his life would be turned upside down and inside out, plunging him into unimaginable suffering. You know, he's in a spot where he's 17
So his whole life is ahead of him, maybe. And I love what you do in the book. It's all these maybes. You know, your imagination is so broad. Maybe he was thinking of a girl. Maybe he was thinking of what is anybody can think about what their life was like at 17
You have all of these dreams and changes suddenly. So can you talk about when you give the stories in your in this book about your own lives, you know, and you have a tragic death or you have a diagnosis or heart attacks, and it just changes on a dime.

**Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright** (2:50)
Yeah. Well, it is, it's kind of unbelievable what happened in his life because he was he was the favored son of Jacob and Jacob had 12 sons and Joseph was the 11th and and so he everything's going great for him. I mean, he's got his dad's love. He's, you know, going to check on his brothers, on an errand for his dad. And and then like you said, had no idea that his life was about to change in a nanosecond. And that happens to so many of us that we've got all these plans for our future and, you know, excited about what is to be. And and then all of a sudden things change. And it's like, wait a second, this isn't what I had planned for my life. And I didn't know it was going to go this way. And we talk about, you know, the if onlys, you know, only Joseph hadn't taken, you know, gone and looked for his brothers. Because when he did, he couldn't find them. And then some random guy comes up and says, oh, they went down to Dothan. And he could have been like, I'm not going to go there. I'll just go back. But but God had him on a path and and he needed to get him to Egypt for so many reasons we can talk about. But but that that his life changed in our lives can do that. You know, we don't realize maybe what's going to happen today or tomorrow or the next. During the next year. But God knows he knows what's happening in our lives and he has a plan and a purpose. And and just like in Joseph's life, when he showed up and saw his brothers and and he must have seen the expressions on their faces, you know, just like thinking, oh, they're there. And then he gets closer and he sees his anger and rage and and they seize him and throw him in a pit, they strip off his robe that his dad had given him and they throw him in this pit and and they end up selling him into slavery and how horrible. I mean, from one minute to the next, everything changed and and and he gets sent off to Egypt as a slave. And and our lives can change. I know my dad and mom can testify to her testimony, too. But I, four years ago, had these two rare heart attacks called SCAD, Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection, where you're inside of your arteries and your heart shred. And it can come from women in their 30s and 40s, usually, and under high stress or hard workout, I kind of had both because I had a stress test that was just terrible. I mean, I've had stress tests before, but I had really bad technician.
