This episode is sponsored by Fora Travel. I've always been the person people come to for travel advice, whether it's planning a camping trip in northern Michigan, figuring out how to travel well with kids across the country, or finding experiences that actually help families connect instead of just filling an itinerary. I genuinely have loved helping people create meaningful adventures. And I know a lot of you listening are probably that person too. The friend who plans the trip, the one who researches the details, the one person people trust to find the hidden gems and make everything run smoothly. Fora is built for people exactly like that. Fora is a modern travel agency that helps people build their own travel business, no matter what stage of life they're in. You don't need prior experience because Fora gives you the training, technology and support to help you get started. And you're joining a community of people who are building businesses centered around experiences, relationships and helping others travel well. A lot of advisors begin simply by helping people they already know and grow naturally from there. What I also appreciate is that there are no sales quotas or minimums. You can build this at a pace that works for your life and your family. Your next act starts here. Become a Fora advisor today at foratravel.com/1000hours.

Welcome to The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast. My name is Ginny Yurich. I'm the founder of 1000 Hours Outside and I am thrilled. Beyond thrilled that Chris McKenna is back. He has written a brand new book. It is phenomenal. It will be out by the time you listen to the show. So go grab your copy. It is called 5 Habits of the Tech-Ready Family, Raising Wise Kids in a Wild Digital World. It is phenomenally good, Chris, huge congratulations and welcome back. Thank you.

Fellow Michigander, Ginny. It's so good to be back. We've got the state covered here, both sides, right? Me on the west, you on the east. So yeah.

**Ginny Yurich** (1:48)
Okay. So when we first popped on, you were like, hey, do you remember the last time that we did this together? And the story is that we live in the same state. So you were like, well, I think we talked about, like, let's do this in person. And I have, I do have a podcast room, but we are in an old farmhouse that has an edition on it. So this particular room is a small room and it doesn't really get good heat or cooling either one, which is great for podcasting because there's never any blowing noise from any wind.

**Chris McKenna** (2:20)
Right.

**Ginny Yurich** (2:22)
But it does get really hot in here. And so we did this podcast and you were so sweaty.

**Chris McKenna** (2:30)
I was dripping.
I know. I'm like, you know, we just met and I feel like this is a really special moment we're sharing right now.

**Ginny Yurich** (2:40)
So other people, Chris, have here and there very rarely been like, oh, I live not that far from you or I'd love to come to Michigan. What if I drive up there and we can just record in person? I'm like, nope.

**Chris McKenna** (2:51)
Nope. We tried that.

**Ginny Yurich** (2:55)
You'll be very sweaty by the time it ends.
That's right. That's right. That was a fantastic conversation. People can go back and listen to our first one. But since then, you have come out with a brand new book. So you are the founder of Protect Young Eyes. This is really helping kids to have their childhood. It's very practical, but also philosophical as well. So I'm so glad that you came out with this book. It's a great tool to use in your family. It includes, like I said, the foundational, what are you going to think about this? Because every parent has to deal with this now, all the way down to how are you going to set up your router? There was a whole section about that. And I was like, oh, it's your ultimate guide to understanding routers. And I was like, I wonder if Chris ever in his wildest dreams thought he would be putting that in a book. Your ultimate guide to understanding routers. But the book is phenomenal. I would love if you would give a little bit of your backstory here on how you were working with teens. And your life changed because you start to talk to parents. And you're really at this point talking solely mainly about pornography and the parents were really interested in the material. And so this kind of shifts your whole life focus.
