If you want to get shit done, the way how you deal with your energy sources, I think is very, very crucial.
Teemu Arina (0:05)
And if you think about like high performance culture, which we have discussed, and they kind of like advertise this high performance culture, and what it means, you have more hours per day, and it's just like burn the candle from the both end, and that's called high performance.
So it's kind of illusory. So what is actually high performance is that you control your energy supply, you have stable blood sugar, you have stable energy for the brain, you take micro breaks, you do movements, and all the stuff.

Welcome to the Body Mind Empowerment Podcast. I'm your host Siim Land, and our guests today are Olli Sovijärvi and Teemu Arina. Olli and Teemu run the Biohacker Center in Finland, and they organize the Biohacker Summit. In this episode, we're going to talk about how to optimize your health and performance at work. We also have a 40-day video course called The Upgraded Workplace about this topic. This episode is brought to you by KAATSU Training. KAATSU bands incorporate blood flow moderation training that trick the body into thinking that it's lifting heavier weights than it actually is. When traditional weightlifting requires you to reach 70 to 80% of your one repetition maximum to stimulate muscle hypertrophy, then KAATSU achieve that effect only at 20 to 30%. So it's perfect for treating injuries or use when you don't have access to heavy weights.
Research about KAATSU bands also shows it lowers blood pressure, speeds up recovery from injuries, releases stem cells, builds muscle, burns fat and prevents age-related muscle loss.
These things are a game changer and I use them almost every day. If you want to try out the KAATSU Cycle bands, then use the code SIIM for a 10% discount at kautsuglobal.com. That's kautsuglobal.com and the 10% code is SIIM. What's up guys, how are you doing?
Olli Sovijärvi (2:00)
Good.
I'm all good. I mean, it's quite interesting times we are living in, but it's not stopping us from doing the best work ever. So I haven't been traveling a lot for speaking and in compensation, I have had a lot of time to reflect how I do my work in the future. And I think I haven't enjoyed any period as much as I've actually enjoyed the lockdowns like ever.
Teemu Arina (2:27)
Yeah, it's pretty awesome. You've actually been sleeping.
Siim Land (2:29)
Yeah, I've been sleeping like eight hours a night, which is sleeping in on the travel at times. Yeah, totally agree. Like there's been, you know, there's a lot of benefit to it. Like you just take a break from it and you don't have to, let's say, travel that much and you can just focus more on self-reflection and being productive. So that's good to hear.
Olli Sovijärvi (2:49)
We actually, yeah, and also, also we are thinking about like how to do things more effectively remotely and how to do more video stuff. Because now if you look at many companies, they had a transition from, you know, doing things at the office. I saw a recent statistic that like around 69% of people have never worked from home. Can you imagine?
69%. And now many of those are working for the first time remotely and they have to set up things and, you know, gear and many companies are now much more ready to do online stuff and events also. I mean, I'm a professional speaker going around speaking and what has happened is like most of those events have transitioned now like online or into a hybrid format or canceled.
But the ones that remain, I think it's kind of becoming a status quo that it's okay to go to an online event. And I mean, we are at the Biohacker Center. We also organized the Health Hacking Summit, which is a fully online kind of Biohacker Summit. We will do another one in autumn.
Teemu Arina (4:00)
August.
Olli Sovijärvi (4:01)
In autumn.
Teemu Arina (4:02)
August 18th, 19th.
Olli Sovijärvi (4:05)
17th.
Teemu Arina (4:06)
Yeah.
Olli Sovijärvi (4:07)
19th, 19th, 20th.
Teemu Arina (4:08)
Yeah.
Olli Sovijärvi (4:09)
I don't remember. Anyway, sometime in August.
But anyway, it gives a really good opportunity to think about how you work in a new way. And I think that's kind of one of the topics we might dive into today.
Siim Land (4:22)
Yeah, absolutely.
