Joe Rogan (0:15)
Yes, sir.
Jamar Neighbors (0:17)
Man, you too, bro.
Joe Rogan (0:19)
Ah, brings me back to the comedy store. Ah, the days, I'm gonna be one day, I'm gonna be looking back on those days, and just going, what a lucky time we had there. Yeah. You know, we were so lucky.
So lucky to be in that spot at that time, in that moment in history.
Jamar Neighbors (0:37)
Dude, I, some guy wanted me to write something about, like, a haunted comedy club. So, like, one of the last days that I was out there before I came out here.
So I walked all the way down the street, and then I walked all the way to the comedy store. This clothes is shut down and it's abandoned.
Joe Rogan (0:56)
I heard it's weird.
Jamar Neighbors (0:57)
It is. And I was just looking at, I was just looking at the whole place, taking it in, and I was just like, damn. I was like, I just walked off.
God, I looked at my name, and I was up there like, damn, man, I worked so hard to get that shit on there. And I just walked off. I took nothing, like, nothing back to go write about. And I was just like, damn, I worked so hard to get that.
Joe Rogan (1:26)
Yeah, getting your name up on the wall at that place, it's like, I mean, for a comedian, it's like that's the stamp.
Jamar Neighbors (1:31)
Hell yeah.
Joe Rogan (1:32)
You got the stamp.
Jamar Neighbors (1:33)
Hell yeah. And they wouldn't pass me for the longest, dude.
Joe Rogan (1:37)
How long?
Jamar Neighbors (1:38)
Like, oh, man, so I started going there at 19 And...
Joe Rogan (1:44)
When you were 19 years old?
Jamar Neighbors (1:46)
Yeah, I've been doing comedy for like 17 years.
Joe Rogan (1:48)
What year was it when you got passed?
Jamar Neighbors (1:58)
Like 2014, maybe. Yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:01)
So that was like right when I was coming back.
Jamar Neighbors (2:03)
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And they would never pass. I remember doing the classe civilgg يفريق based before Mitzi.
This is when Mitzi came in.
And they sat her in the back, and everybody was like, oh my god, it's Minty, oh my god, it's Minty, oh my god, it's Minty. We all went up and we all did our sets, like it was me, it was Jerrod, it was Angel Bowers, it was Josh, it was like all of us. And then, so we all go up and do our sets and shit, and mind you, this is an open mic. So I go up, and the first joke I said, I was up to like, yeah, man, I was like, Michael Jackson could fuck anybody he want to. You know what I'm saying? I was like, you know, before everybody was doing that type of joke, I was really like, Michael Jackson could do whatever the fuck he want to do. And then Mitzi gets up and walks out, right? She walks out, and then I thought that my friend in back, I mean, that my friend, Angela walked her because he went up after me. And then the next day, remember Tommy?
Joe Rogan (3:11)
Yeah.
Jamar Neighbors (3:12)
The next day, Tommy was up there like, what in the fuck did you think you were doing?
And I was like, me? I was like, I was doing my stand up. I was like, I rock that shit. And I was like, it was only four people in. He was like, you went dirty, bro. It was only six o'clock. Mitzi called you a pig.
And I'm so, and I'm so.
Joe Rogan (3:33)
You went dirty. It was only six o'clock. Look, this is an hour.
Jamar Neighbors (3:35)
I was like.
Joe Rogan (3:36)
You can tell non-dirty jokes.
Jamar Neighbors (3:38)
It's fucked up because I was like, I talk like this all the time. I was like, three o'clock in the morning, nine o'clock. No matter.
Joe Rogan (3:44)
That's hilarious.
Jamar Neighbors (3:46)
So I walked Mitzi, and that's one of the reasons it took me forever to get past, because they didn't trust my ass.
Joe Rogan (3:53)
If she didn't like you, she got mad for a long time. She held a grudge.
You had to earn your spot back. You had to hang out there forever.
Jamar Neighbors (4:03)
So then my friends started getting past. Willie, Hunter, and Jerrod got past, and I was still in development, like in the belly room. They still passed me to the belly room. And then so I would work in there and stuff like that.
