Doo, doo, doo. So you were asking.
By the time I came around, Missy Shore was already in an advanced stage. She was older, and she had some health issues, and so she wasn't banging comics at that point.
Andrew Schulz (0:17)
But there was a time.
Joe Rogan (0:18)
There was a time when she was the boss, she was the boss woman, and she would grab comedians.
And Jimmy Schubert talked about it. He was like 21 years old, wanted to be a comic. All of a sudden, he's banging mincey shure, like, yikes.
Andrew Schulz (0:32)
Do we know anybody famous, famous?
Joe Rogan (0:35)
I don't know. I don't know who's talking about it. I know Jimmy talked about it, and Argus talked about it. I have no idea. But it's a part of, the reason why I'm saying it is because it's a part of the Comedy Store documentary that they're putting out.
Andrew Schulz (0:46)
I mean, she is a joint.
Joe Rogan (0:47)
She was an animal. Yeah, she's a pretty girl. She also was the most important figure in comedy outside of comedians.
Like by running that store that way and letting all those people just be buck wild and have this crazy creative environment. That's where Kinnison erupted from. That's where Richard Pryor used to work out there and Bill Hicks started there. So many people were there in their early days.
Andrew Schulz (1:12)
Why do you think that it could flourish that way?
Joe Rogan (1:15)
Because of her.
Andrew Schulz (1:17)
But like, how did it make money? Did she have money?
Joe Rogan (1:20)
Well, there was a lot of great comedy, right? So you gotta think, you've got Richard Pryor there, you've got David Letterman there, you've got Tim Thomas. There was a giant cast of great comedy that came out of that club.
And it was a cultural landmark, and still is a cultural landmark in Hollywood. So there's money to be made there. And that was the roaring days of the 80s, where it was packed all the time. And then there was like a drop-off, but now it's, when we get to open again, it'll be packed again. It's like, before the pandemic, it was probably the best it's ever been doing.
Andrew Schulz (1:55)
Yeah, I mean, I would go in there and it was insane. All three rooms packed.
I mean, just comics everywhere.
The vibe was right. It's a real shame.
Joe Rogan (2:06)
Yeah.
Andrew Schulz (2:06)
It's a real shame.
Joe Rogan (2:07)
It is a real shame, but it's just one part of the real shame of all this craziness that's been going on for the last few months. You know, it's, and now we were just talking about it before. Like there's all these articles now about how doctors are saying that the people that come into them are less sick than they ever were before.
There's like, in Italy, rather, they're saying there's such a small amount of virus, it's almost undetectable. It's run through the country.
Andrew Schulz (2:32)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:32)
It's hot out.
Andrew Schulz (2:33)
Yeah.
You think that's all it was? So Trump is right. Trump said it was gonna go away without any cure.
Joe Rogan (2:39)
Well.
Andrew Schulz (2:40)
And then it did.
Joe Rogan (2:41)
It would, but it would have killed more people.
I don't know how many more people though. I don't know if there could have been a better strategy.
Andrew Schulz (2:47)
I don't know, dude.
Joe Rogan (2:48)
The problem is we're Monday morning quarterbacking.
Andrew Schulz (2:52)
Yeah, it was like after the fact, we're going, this is what we should have done. And none of us really know.
I didn't think we were gonna die, but I thought it could have gotten kind of bad a little bit. I made a few phone calls with friends. I was like, go stock your fridges. We might be in the crib for a little bit, but.
Joe Rogan (3:06)
The only thing that helped me was Idris Elba.
Andrew Schulz (3:08)
Why, what'd he say?
Joe Rogan (3:09)
Because he got it and he was fine.
Andrew Schulz (3:10)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (3:10)
I was like, what can Idris? Yeah.
Andrew Schulz (3:12)
Do you think they really got it?
Joe Rogan (3:13)
He seemed to be shaking it off.
Andrew Schulz (3:14)
Yes, they do. You don't think it's weird that the second it pops off.
Because that's what I would do if I wanted people to be afraid, right? I'd be like, who's the most famous guy? He got it.
Joe Rogan (3:29)
Oh, you're going deep conspiracy.
