The Geekenders

October 5, 2026

Dodger for the first time in decades returns to the World of Warcraft and she has some thoughts. Meanwhile Jesse is overwhelmed with Control Resonant, Ace Combat 8, and Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake. It's a good time to be Jesse. Are you ready to geek out this weekend?

Jesse Cox (0:01)

Yeah, yeah, you know what time it is. It's time for The Geekenders Podcast.

SPEAKER_2 (0:06)

MegaRan, Jesse and Dodger.

Hello, everybody, and welcome to Geekenders! Do you still have the button that does that? The horn button? I'm so sorry.

Jesse Cox (1:25)

Was I the horn button guy? Today is. Hold on, did I have a horn button?

SPEAKER_2 (1:29)

Didn't you used to have a pew, pew, pew, pew button?

Jesse Cox (1:33)

I definitely have a button that goes nut. You have a nut button.

SPEAKER_2 (1:36)

Yeah, I thought you also had a pew, pew, pew, pew. Only the nut.

Jesse Cox (1:41)

Are you podcast cheating on me? Are you out there?

Are you out there podcasting around with other people who got. I'm not.

SPEAKER_2 (1:47)

No, this is a million years ago. I thought this, I thought you had another button.

Jesse Cox (1:54)

I don't want to say. Only the nut button. That the whole like, you know, women have a long memory thing is real, but in this case, whatever this scenario you've cooked up is, I don't remember this at all.

SPEAKER_2 (2:12)

I feel like a lot of those were sort of floating around maybe 10 years ago, and I got confused about which ones you had. I just assume you have everything that I have and more.

Jesse Cox (2:25)

And I love that. I love I love that assumption, but we know it's not true. We know it. We know it's false.

So, yeah, I don't maybe I did, man. I've had all sorts of stupid things that I thought were fun for like, you know, however long my ADD told me it was fun. And then I'd move on very quickly. So it's possible.

SPEAKER_2 (2:49)

But the nut button perseveres clearly.

Jesse Cox (2:52)

I mean, it's just around here somewhere. So that's why every once in a while I'll see it and I'll press it and go right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_2 (3:00)

And it has become new and fresh because it was lost for a hot minute. Yeah.

Jesse Cox (3:05)

Yep.

SPEAKER_2 (3:05)

It is officially spookest season. It is October. And I feel like I asked you this last year, but I can't remember. Do you do anything in October? Really? Do you do any Halloweeny stuff?

Jesse Cox (3:18)

No, I don't do anything ever. When the only time I do something of a holiday related nature is when others ask me to be involved in the thing they're doing.

SPEAKER_2 (3:30)

Right. You do not seek out joy in the holiday on your own.

Jesse Cox (3:37)

No, no, no, no. There's no holiday where I'm like, yeah, all right.

SPEAKER_2 (3:41)

This is my season.

Jesse Cox (3:43)

This is, yeah, it's spooky season. Time to get spooky. Time to, in my mind, the thing I immediately think of is I could put up decorations, but then I have to take those decorations down.

SPEAKER_2 (3:56)

And establish that you hate that, yeah.

Jesse Cox (3:58)

Hate it. So I would rather not. I can live vicariously through everyone else. Enjoy, have an amazing, whatever, you know, you want to celebrate. And I will show up and be like, yo, I love this for you. And that's, that's the most you're going to get from me.

SPEAKER_2 (4:17)

Yeah.

Yeah. That's fair enough. I enjoy it. I enjoy a comfy, spooky season.

Jesse Cox (4:24)

I enjoy it. Like, it's not that I'm not to be clear. It's not that I'm like poo pooing the idea of holidays. Like the idea of, yeah, I like Halloween. I like, if you want to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas or Valentine's Day or the 4th of July or whatever the hell makes you happy. I don't know, man. I will gladly show up to that party. I'll bring you some drinks. I'll be a sweetheart. However, in my personal life, I'm not going out of my way to be like, Hey, I decorated my entire life.

And you know, I'm not going to show up and be like, okay, girlies, it's pumpkin spice latte.

SPEAKER_3 (5:09)

No, not having the nails.

SPEAKER_2 (5:14)

Last year, I saw someone talking about throwing a party that they called a soup soiree.

And it's still to this day is like my favorite concept for a party. The idea is every person, it's a soup-exclusive potluck. Every person brings a soup. And you, as the host, procure little takeaway soup pots. And every person who comes gets to take a little takeaway soup pot of any soup that sounds delicious to them.

Jesse Cox (5:50)

This might be the best idea I have ever heard.
