I worked as a part-time medical exaner for the Commonwealth of Virginia. I remember going to a conference and studying these single motor vehicle accidents in young males. They're like 18 years old. Terrific. Thank you. So you've investigated criminals and you've treated medical emergencies. What first tipped you off that something hidden inside our bodies deserved an investigation of its own?

Sean O'Mara (4:27)

Well it was my own interest in trying to investigate and research what happened to me.

So I was, like most Americans, becoming diseased, becoming overweight, about the age of 48 I was working as an emergency medicine physician. And I was very upset how much weight I was gaining in my medical conditions that I had, rectal dysfunction, large prostate, peeing five times a night, pre-cancerous lesions, and myosophagus. And I was working at one day in my hospital gym. We had this wellness center that our hospital allowed physicians to work in and health care personnel and they sold to access to people in the community. And in there working at the same time with me was this heavy bariatric surgeon. He was a guy who did operations on basically overweight, morbidly obese people to do stomach bypass procedures. And he used to say, Sean, I've got to lose this weight. I can't be a fat bariatric surgeon, take care of fat people. And so we're in there working away.
