14 Ridiculous Fantasy Predictions We Aren't Responsible For

Bold predictions, true serum. I think we kind of believe these takes fully, but we're gonna get bold here. This is going away from the Yahoo Consensus, away from the Consensus out there. Some new takes that I haven't exactly delivered. I'm bringing on Sam Sherman and Jakob Sanderson. Both of these guys have been waiver wire kings for us on the program. You guys know them, you guys love them. I think we'll just skip this one, square it away right now.
Sam Sherman, give me your first bold take.

Yeah, I'm gonna go with Jeremiyah Love, should just be straight up drafted ahead of Ashton Jeanty.
And I think this one comes down to a couple of different reasons. I think one, the timing of the injury for both of these guys is kind of important. Both of them suffering ankle sprains to some degree. Love's was in August 13th and Jeanty's was almost two weeks later around August 23rd. So he does have that extra 10 days to recover from that ankle sprain. So that's one point. I think two, I am just a little skeptical of the talent of Jeanty. I think he's an awesome player. I think he's going to be a workhorse running back in the NFL for a long time. But is he the talent that can overcome the environment as a player that's getting drafted at the one-two turn? I'm just not sure about that. His advanced metrics last year weren't overly impressive to me. His receiving metrics were also not that impressive, less than one yard per route run this past season. I think I would just rather re-roll the talent bet on someone like Jeremiyah Love, who was drafted third overall.
Again, Jeanty was drafted a little bit later than that.
I just see Love's explosive playability, him being a true dynamic weapon in the passing game in a way that I didn't quite see with Jeanty last year. I'm betting on one of these two guys to overcome a really bad offensive environment. I don't think either of us think that the Raiders or Cardinals are going to be particularly impressive this year. I'm betting on the guy that I think has more explosive ability, I think is a better receiving back. That's why I think Jeremiyah Love who's going, I think in the 30s in a lot of drafts now, I think he should be straight up going ahead of Ashton Jeanty, who's closer to the one-two turn.

Yeah. I really love this take. I'm trying to make Jeremiyah Love maybe my most drafted player as he's getting to the 30s and 40s depending on the format. I think that's an automatic click. I think he is better than Ashton Jeanty straight up. Jakob, I know that you like Jeanty in general. Obviously, we're recalibrating with the ankle sprain here.
How good does he actually have to be for him to pay off a mid-round two price tag at this point? How much does the talent actually matter? Or do you think he's just one of the best running backs in the NFL?

Well, I find myself very frustrated by how this is all gone. I disagree with both of you guys on the talent profile pretty meaningfully. I had him as my eighth overall player before the injury.
But what I guess I disagree with the rest of the market on is whether ankle sprains matter because I've moved him down a lot after that. I have him now, I think, as my 23rd ranked overall player right now, following the ankle injury.
Maybe that seems too extreme. But to me, the first two rounds are filled with a lot of really good players. And so even the guy that I had as a clear first round bet, if you're telling me he's likely missing time in the early season and then may need time to ramp up back after that, maybe leaves a window open for a backup to emerge from a guy who was projecting to be a 20% of Snaps player to a 35% of Snaps player if he impresses against what I think is the worst team in the league in Week 1, the Miami Dolphins. That's a meaningful shift to his outlook. So I don't know, it's kind of like the worst of all counts for me. Ashton Jeanty gets hurt, so all the teams I'd already drafted him on are worse now. And I feel like I'm not going to draft him again for the rest of the summer. So I'm happy for the couple of teams that I got in the five hours where everybody was out for the season. Those are the only Ashton Jeanty teams I'm happy with now in my whole portfolio.
