Welcome to Feedback Friday. I'm your host, Jordan Harbinger. As always, I'm here with Feedback Friday producer, the inoffensive plant-based mozzarella to my dank, unsubtle gorgonzola, Gabriel Mizrahi.
Gabriel Mizrahi (1:47)
You just recited my order at the last three restaurants I visited. That was great.
Jordan Harbinger (1:50)
Yeah, I want that pasta that smells so good, take all the flavors out and all that stuff. I know you're substitutions. You're substituciones.
Is that a real word? Probably not.
Gabriel Mizrahi (2:01)
Probably not, but I loved it.
Jordan Harbinger (2:02)
That sounds like one of those, yeah.
On the Jordan Harbinger Show, we decode the stories, secrets and skills of the world's most fascinating people. Our mission is to help you become a better informed, more critical thinker, and during the week, we have long-form conversations with a variety of amazing folks, rocket scientists, drug scientists, former jihadis, undercover economic hitmen, you name it. This week, we had Jeff Scoop, former neo-Nazi, and Andrew Hurr on Travel Health. Staying healthy in the sky and at hotels, and even avoiding a little bit of jet lag. He's the inventor of FlyKit, a product I'm a huge fan of. So that's an especially practical episode. On Fridays, though, we share stories, take listener letters, offer advice, play obnoxious sound bites, and compare ourselves to various obscure cheese genres.
Jace Sanderson (2:45)
Hey, Showfarm, producer Jace here.
If you want to close your eyes and drift across Gabe's silent meditation retreat post-game wrap up, you can jump to timestamp 28 minutes and 40 seconds. Enjoy the show.
Jordan Harbinger (3:00)
So, Gabe, you're just coming off your silent meditation retreat, yeah?
Gabriel Mizrahi (3:03)
Yeah, I just finished a couple days ago. Quite an experience, I have to say.
Jordan Harbinger (3:07)
I bet. How was it?
Gabriel Mizrahi (3:08)
It was pretty awesome, man. I have a lot of thoughts. I'm still making sense of everything. It wasn't perfect. I have some notes, but overall, it was really, really great. I'm glad I did it.
Jordan Harbinger (3:18)
Really?
Gabriel Mizrahi (3:19)
Yeah, it was very eye-opening, the whole experience.
Jordan Harbinger (3:21)
So many questions. So first of all, was it as hard as you thought? Because my thing is though, just it's the nightmare, not being able to talk for that long.
Gabriel Mizrahi (3:27)
It wasn't actually. I was really surprised. Not hard, not hard to be silent.
Jordan Harbinger (3:31)
Tell me more. I mean, explain how five days of silence is not excruciating.
Gabriel Mizrahi (3:35)
So first of all, let me paint you a picture. The retreat took place at this Benedictine monastery that I told you about that dated back to the Middle Ages. There was a church next to it with paintings from hundreds and hundreds of years ago. It was stunning. It was in this tiny little town called Maguizano on the southwest corner of Lake Garda, which is a really beautiful place.
When you walk around this property, you feel like you're in one of the houses of one of the major families in Game of Thrones.
