Joe Rogan (0:04)
How do I pronounce your name?
Colion Noir (0:05)
Colion Noir.
Joe Rogan (0:06)
Colion?
Colion Noir (0:08)
Now, there's a conspiracy out there.
Joe Rogan (0:10)
Okay.
Colion Noir (0:12)
I made this name up.
Joe Rogan (0:13)
Yeah, we'll talk about that. We're live already? How did you do that so quickly? Oh, you're a wizard.
What's the conspiracy about your name? Your name is Colion Noir. What's the conspiracy about your name?
Colion Noir (0:25)
That I made it up to hide who I really was.
Joe Rogan (0:28)
Oh, some CIA type shit.
Colion Noir (0:29)
Yeah, like everybody gets to have pseudonyms except for me. When you're talking about guns, you don't get to have pseudonyms.
Joe Rogan (0:34)
Did you have a different name?
Colion Noir (0:36)
Yeah, my name's Collins.
Joe Rogan (0:38)
Oh, okay. So you did change your name.
Colion Noir (0:41)
Yeah, I did.
Joe Rogan (0:41)
But there's a conspiracy behind you changing your name. But that's not real. You just decided you wanted a different name.
Colion Noir (0:47)
I got into guns and I wanted to start watching gun videos. And so I wanted to make a YouTube channel.
And I didn't want to use my real name because I thought that wasn't cool enough.
Joe Rogan (0:57)
You thought your name wasn't cool enough? That's such an African-American thing.
I know comedians have changed their names, like Earthquake.
You don't know who Earthquake is? Fucking hilarious comedian, man. He's hilarious. But a white dude couldn't call himself Earthquake. Yeah, he could. You could, but nobody would... A wrestler. Oh, a wrestler named Earthquake? That's different. That's probably a big giant guy, right?
So what's your original name? What's your actual full original name?
Colion Noir (1:28)
I'll give you my first name. I just don't want to make it easy for people to show up at my house.
Collins. Collins is my round name.
Joe Rogan (1:34)
That's a fine name. Something wrong with that name?
Colion Noir (1:36)
No, there's nothing wrong with it.
Joe Rogan (1:37)
Why did that name bother you to the point where you didn't want to have it on a YouTube channel?
Colion Noir (1:41)
No, I just thought it would be more fun to just come up with a pseudonym for my YouTube channel. I didn't start my YouTube channel thinking, all right, I'm going to start this channel and I'm going to build this whole brand behind it. No, it was just...
Joe Rogan (1:52)
You did it for fun.
Colion Noir (1:53)
Yeah, one of my friends, he called me Killer Colion.
That was kind of a little nickname that I had. And so I was like, okay, we'll just use Colion. And then I'm like, I'm always in black.
Joe Rogan (2:04)
Why did he call you Killer Colion?
Colion Noir (2:05)
I have no idea. I talked to him to this day and I still don't know why he called me that.
Joe Rogan (2:10)
Yeah, there's nicknames, man, that just happen sometimes.
Colion Noir (2:12)
Now, there is a rapper in Houston by that name.
Joe Rogan (2:16)
Killer Colion?
Colion Noir (2:17)
Colion, yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:17)
Oh, okay.
Colion Noir (2:18)
Yeah, so I don't know if maybe he listened to him and then my name Collins, and then Colion, and so forth and so on. Yeah, so.
Joe Rogan (2:26)
So how did you get wrapped up with the NRA? So we should kind of cover a couple of things here today.
Colion Noir (2:33)
We'll do the origin story.
Joe Rogan (2:34)
Yeah, so you're kind of like a spokesperson for the NRA.
Colion Noir (2:38)
Not official spokesperson.
Joe Rogan (2:39)
Not official. Unofficial. Do you remember the NRA? Do they recognize you? Do they appreciate you? How does that work?
Colion Noir (2:46)
Okay, so the way it started, I mean, I'm going to start from the beginning.
Joe Rogan (2:50)
Okay.
Colion Noir (2:51)
So I had a friend of mine, a good friend of mine, who called me up one day and was like, do you want to go shooting? And I was like, because at the time I really wasn't pro-gun.
And this was about, I was around 23, 24?
Joe Rogan (3:04)
How old do you know?
Colion Noir (3:05)
I'm 34
Joe Rogan (3:06)
So this is 10 years ago.
Colion Noir (3:07)
Yeah. And I hesitated a little bit, because my background growing up, I didn't grow up with guns in the house.
No one in my family had a gun.
And for me, the idea and the notion of being a young black male with a gun, it's always, I always saw it exactly through the lens of gangbanger, drug dealer, so forth and so on. So that's the mindset I had with respect to firearms. Unconsciously, right? I didn't even realize it, wasn't even conscious of it until I started getting into this very heavy and realized, okay, wow, I was thinking like that, didn't realize it. And so, but at the same time, I told myself, why am I afraid of essentially what is an inanimate object? Right? So I think to myself, I'm like, all right, I really don't want to go. I'm a little terrified. But you know what? I'm going to go ahead and do it.
