Like we have insulated walls, put it in the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Someone's got a new Netflix special.

I couldn't think of any other way to start.

SPEAKER_2 (0:15)

The opposite of what I thought you.

SPEAKER_3 (0:21)

Wow.

Joe Rogan (0:23)

So you do have a new Netflix special.

Todd Glass (0:25)

I do.

Joe Rogan (0:25)

I don't want this to be like an interview.

Todd Glass (0:26)

No, but I like it, I'm actually proud of it.

You know, it's like, I'm still proud of it. You know, usually a certain amount of time will go by where I'm like, oh, by the time I'm even now, I've gotten it better on the road. Because, you know, the day after you shoot it, you go out in the road. And you have a little fun with it. And that's when you go, and then you go, oh, I'd. But I'm still proud of it. And it was my favorite thing.

The guy did, Jeff Rowe is the guy who, and Scott Moran. But just everything I wanted, they did it. Perfect.

Joe Rogan (0:58)

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_3 (0:59)

The look, the lighting.

Todd Glass (1:00)

I did it at the Lyric. And the Lyric is great, but there's no doubt.

Joe Rogan (1:04)

Is the Lyric in LA?

Todd Glass (1:06)

The Lyric is in LA. It's like Melrose and La Brea. Pretty, you know, but they sort of used it as a shell. And it's already a pretty cool club, but the biggest compliment I got, someone said, you know what's weird about your special? I want to go there and it doesn't exist.

What it looked like. Like, where is that?

Joe Rogan (1:26)

They had good set people.

Todd Glass (1:28)

It just looked like a cool jazz club in New York City that was maybe, but it wasn't small because it was an after, you know, sometimes it's small, but it's shitty. It's, but that's the look and it's cool. It's sort of a key, what's the word? Kitchier.

Joe Rogan (1:40)

Yeah, I don't know what that word is.

Todd Glass (1:41)

It's charming. And that's the look they want. I didn't want that. Not that I think that's bad, but because some people have done that really well, and it's a cool way to see a comedian just in a cool little raw space. But I want it small, but like, like it's a jazz club in New York City, but it's like 150 bucks to get in, and it holds 100 people.

It's like that type of thing. Run like a theater.

Joe Rogan (2:00)

Well, you helped design one of my all time favorite clubs, Helium and Philly. You helped design that place, didn't you?

Todd Glass (2:07)

Well, when Mark, Mark Acme, Louis Lee said, Todd's from Philly. He'll probably love to give you advice.

So when it was just a warehouse, like cement, I met him down there, and he's like, I'm thinking of opening up a club. And I told him a lot of stuff. I wrote, I made like, well, email, like six pages of, here's very detailed things. And you know what? He listened to a lot of it.

Like, I give him credit, you know?

Joe Rogan (2:39)

That's awesome. It's a great fucking club.

It's like, there's something about those intimate spaces. Like one of the things I've noticed when I take people on the road with me is that guys who have never worked at theater, like it takes a few tries to get, they go, oh, okay, this is a whole different thing. There's so many people here. You've got to kind of project out to them.

It's like a different thing. It's not, you don't feel them the way you feel them in the OR on like a Wednesday night, right? Or Comedy Works in Denver, where they're on top of you. You feel the people there more, right?

Todd Glass (3:15)

Yeah, and then you learn it pretty quick, though.

Joe Rogan (3:17)

Do you ever do the belly room at the store?

Todd Glass (3:21)

I have done it a few times, and of course, I love little rooms. I love, like, yeah.

Joe Rogan (3:27)

Well, when I used to do Tempe, you always did that side room on purpose. They would try to get you to do the big place.

Todd Glass (3:33)

Well, the side place, you know, not to get too, but you get it for the listeners.

Joe Rogan (3:39)

I was jealous.

I remember I came over, I was in the other, the regular one, which is great. I was having a good time.

But when Joey and I went next door and watched you, I was like, this room's better. This is the better room.
