I was listening to some old t-aiming music the other day, it was making me think of how depressing it would be if that was the only music that you could hear.
SPEAKER_2 (0:12)
La la la la, la la la la.
Bryan Callen (0:15)
It's the David Lynch movie.
Joe Rogan (0:26)
Can you imagine living in the days where the tuba with the needle at the bottom of it.
Bryan Callen (0:31)
Godfather had one of those-
In my home, in Pelham, in his home, in Pelham, New York, they had an old chronograph. I think that's what it's called, right? A chronograph, and they would play, you know, classical. My grandparents never listened to, they were Sicilian, they never listened to music.
Joe Rogan (0:47)
Did your parents or your grandparents have the TV in a cabinet? Uh-huh.
Bryan Callen (0:52)
They certainly did.
Joe Rogan (0:53)
And then if the TV would die, a lot of times folks would put the new TV on top of the cabinet, they would keep the cabinet with the blown out TV.
Bryan Callen (1:01)
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Rogan (1:02)
Dude, everybody did that.
Bryan Callen (1:03)
Well, I had a family that never threw anything away.
Joe Rogan (1:05)
No, mine neither.
Bryan Callen (1:06)
Never ever. I'm talking about road cones. You go out to my attic, you find crazy shit out there.
SPEAKER_4 (1:10)
Road cones?
Jamie (1:12)
Phonograph, not a chronograph.
Bryan Callen (1:14)
A phonograph.
Joe Rogan (1:14)
What's a chronograph?
Bryan Callen (1:15)
But they also had a chronograph watch.
Joe Rogan (1:17)
Oh, watch. Oh, right, right.
Bryan Callen (1:18)
Yeah.
Yeah, chronology. God damn it.
Joe Rogan (1:22)
Yeah, those things are crazy. Like that was how they used to listen to music. A tuba attached to a needle.
And you hear, and the speaker must have sounded like dog shit.
Bryan Callen (1:33)
My dad used to have a dust cover for his turntable, and he would, there was a ritual to how you clean your LP.
Joe Rogan (1:40)
Oh, there's a ritual?
Bryan Callen (1:41)
Yeah, you gotta dust it off, you have a special cloth and all that shit.
Joe Rogan (1:44)
Look at that thing. Yep.
Bryan Callen (1:45)
That's what we had.
Joe Rogan (1:46)
Just take a peek at that fucker. Look at that. That's nuts. For people at home, it looks like, it does look like a traffic cone, right?
It does, right? Like a big old brass traffic cone.
Bryan Callen (1:57)
Little needles right there. I read that Ted Williams, the great, this might have been a myth, but the great baseball player Ted Williams, who could hit a fastball, hit any kind of ball, and he apparently could read the label of a record as it was going around.
His eyes could slow shit down.
Joe Rogan (2:13)
Holy shit.
Bryan Callen (2:14)
Yeah.
Yeah. I wonder if that's true.
Joe Rogan (2:17)
I wonder, yeah.
Bryan Callen (2:19)
These are one of these things you hear, right? Yeah. Like Joe Frazier was in a hotel room. There were four flies in the room.
They were like, sorry about the flies, and he caught them all and he goes, here are your flies, get the fuck out of here.
Joe Rogan (2:30)
Eddie Griffin was telling us a Bruce Lee story once. It was one of those.
Bryan Callen (2:34)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:34)
I heard that Bruce Lee was in a fight with 30 men, and he stood in the center of all of them, and you're like, wait, wait, wait, wait. Where'd you hear this story?
Bryan Callen (2:43)
I heard he never was in a ring. I heard he was never, he never sparred once.
I don't think Bruce Lee ever fought.
Joe Rogan (2:50)
Oh, it says it here.
Bryan Callen (2:50)
Did he ever fight competitively?
Joe Rogan (2:51)
It was rumored. No, but he did one thing once where he sparred at like this karate festival.
Bryan Callen (2:57)
One sparring session.
Joe Rogan (2:59)
Cool. All right, well, good luck. Well, that you can see.
Bryan Callen (3:01)
Good luck against a guy like Darren Till.
Joe Rogan (3:02)
It says to be able to read the label on the, no. Good luck to everybody against a guy like Darren Till.
Bryan Callen (3:06)
Yeah, that's true. Good luck.
Joe Rogan (3:08)
Yeah, Vinny Shorman, who is, he does color commentary for a lot of big Muay Thai events. And super knowledgeable, like as a striker. And he's also a hypnotist. I got hypnotized by him a couple of times.
I kept my pants on.
But he got me. Yeah, he hypnotized me. Fascinating. Hypnotism is fascinating.
