I first started off working with Niko, which is a Minecraft YouTuber. I think it was just hitting six figures. So kind of what we do is like we have an inbound person to do thumbnail sketches. There's two types of, I like to think of titles. It's the format of the titles and the topics of the title. Formats would be, you know, I survived in XYZ. The topic would be that XYZ. So on every single one of the pools, we write down notes on why they like certain ideas.

What's an advice you would give to a small YouTuber? So we're here with LowKeyJude. Super excited to talk about optimizing ideas, title and thumbnails, which is your specialty as a creative director for a lot of big YouTubers. So yeah, welcome. Thank you.

**Jude** (0:43)
It's so great to be here. I'm so hyped.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:46)
And we have, of course, Vexin as well. So to get started, who did you work with?

**Jude** (0:51)
I've worked with a lot of people. So I first started off working with Niko, which is a Minecraft YouTuber using the kids space. So we started off because we were in similar discords. And I was just getting into being a YouTube strategist, but basically just helping YouTubers out. And he was like, I'm looking for someone to do ideas. And I'm like, okay, that sounds good. I also have a friend called Buzzy, who's also good at this. Do you want us to come together? And essentially we started partnering up on Niko, and we kind of started on his channel when it was two months, maybe three months old. So it was already big, but it was getting even bigger. I think he's got a few million subscribers now. Essentially, we just delivered a lot of ideas to him, which is just, we wanted 31 ideas because it was daily uploading, and we delivered 42 updates. So then it would go through a process of approving, denying, and a priority list. And that was interesting because some ideas are better than others, obviously. So we want to prioritize the best ideas so that we can put them on maybe some days so they're spread out. So maybe some baggers on the weekend, some really shitters on Wednesday.
And then what we do is we build a backlog. And our backlog was so big because I was working for him for about a year, that we had like 100 ideas in the backlog. There was just one time where we had to sit in a meeting just going through all the ideas because we had such a big backlog. And because KidsChannel was kind of somewhat trend base, there's trend formats and there's trend base, which is interesting to think about. It's similar with YouTube.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:26)
Can you explain the difference for the viewers?

**Jude** (2:29)
So there's two types of, I like to think of titles. It's the format of the titles and the topics of the title. So formats would be, you know, I survived in XYZ. The topic would be that XYZ. So a topic in Kids Niche, there's this really weird one called Crazy Girlfriend or Crazy Fangirl. That would be a topic. It's a weird topic, but that would be the topic. So what your video is about, the title format would be kind of how do you format the video? How do you structure it? It'd be maybe, if you're, if we're going back to the I survived, it'd be I survived 50 hours with Black. So that could be in a location like an island. It could be, you know, anywhere else, or it could be with someone like with a crazy fangirl.
That trending type of topic would be the crazy fangirl. A trending format could be something that was blowing up in the space. So recently on YouTube, I've seen like I tested X, Y, and Z do very well after trying. So that's a trending format. Whereas a trending topic at the moment, I don't think there's many trending topics. I've seen in finance, there's how to unfuck your life. That would be a topic that's trending, whereas the format is like a title structure.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:36)
And how do you come about to finding those trending topics and trending formats?

**Jude** (3:41)
There's a few ways. So of course I use 1of10 and that's not like sponsored or anything. Let's go. I don't want to spill some tea. At the moment, I do use 1of10 a lot more than VueStats. The reason why is because VueStats I kind of see as an Amazon Prime, which is like they'll give a bunch of tools away that's more general. But it's good to have like one kind of format or not format website that specializes in it. And that will kind of creep up against them because right now they're doing like thumbnail testing, thumbnail formats like search, which don't get me started on, and then like a bunch of other things.
