If you're listening, anyone from the Buff family, please don't sue us or chop our heads off or anything like that. I don't think they do any of that anymore, do they?
**Jason Brockman** (0:06)
I think they do.
**John Lamerton** (0:07)
Do they? Oh, okay.
This will be our last Stolen Big Idea Podcast.
**Jason Brockman** (0:11)
June's such a lovely man.
**John Lamerton** (0:12)
Hey everybody, it's John Hamilton here, alongside my good friend and business partner, Mr. Jason Brockman. We're here for another episode of the Big Idea Podcast, where as always, it is our job to help you get more customers and make more money without working harder. So, without further ado, let's dive straight into this month's episode.
June, the year is just flying by. It's leaving us all behind, isn't it?
**Jason Brockman** (0:46)
We're halfway through.
**John Lamerton** (0:47)
I know, we're just about. At the end of June, we'll be halfway through the year.
**Jason Brockman** (0:51)
Okay, six in, six to go. That's halfway, I reckon.
**John Lamerton** (0:55)
It is, in fact, we've only got five done. Five have been done, seven are to go. Not quite halfway.
This is why I do the accounts and you don't.
**Jason Brockman** (1:03)
I know your numbers, mate. Your job.
**John Lamerton** (1:06)
But that's a good point, because as we approach the halfway point in the year, good segue, mate, good segue.
**Jason Brockman** (1:11)
Thank you.
**John Lamerton** (1:12)
As we approach the halfway point of the year, it's a good time to evaluate those New Year's resolutions that you made back at the end of December, begin of January. And we went, you know what? This is my year.
This, particularly for your Liverpool fan, this is my year. Gotta get a reference in there. Apologies to any Liverpool fans listening, watching, who might have hoped they were gonna get their sixth Champions League win at the weekend. Didn't happen, nevermind.
**Jason Brockman** (1:42)
Shame.
**John Lamerton** (1:43)
Moving on, those resolutions that you made back in January, do you remember what ours were?
**Jason Brockman** (1:48)
I remember yours.
**John Lamerton** (1:49)
Play more golf.
**Jason Brockman** (1:50)
Have you done that?
**John Lamerton** (1:51)
I certainly have.
**Jason Brockman** (1:53)
Of course.
**John Lamerton** (1:54)
Loads. Been really, really good.
**Jason Brockman** (1:55)
You have been good.
**John Lamerton** (1:57)
But for a lot of people, I bet if you said to them, now what was your resolution? What did you say you were gonna do back in January? They were like, hmm, something about losing weight, something about a bit working harder or making more money or learning a new skill.
**Jason Brockman** (2:18)
Didn't really happen.
**John Lamerton** (2:20)
And well, five or six, depending on your counting ability.
Months have since passed since then, and you're probably thinking, well, okay, well, what can I do about that? Well, let me introduce you to new months resolutions.
**Jason Brockman** (2:38)
New months resolutions.
**John Lamerton** (2:39)
So why wait a whole year to commit to doing something new when you could just say, hey, it's a new month.
This month, I am going to go dairy free, just for a month, because then there's no commitment beyond that first month of I'm gonna do this, but I'm gonna do it for a month. So why not go vegan for a month? I would, one of our clients has gone vegan recently. We've had a little discussion about, could never do that. Giving up really nice burgers and like, you know.
**Jason Brockman** (3:14)
Bacon sandwiches.
**John Lamerton** (3:15)
Yeah, bacon sandwiches, not for me. Nice bit of roast lamb with, oh, anyway.
**Jason Brockman** (3:21)
A bit of beef.
**John Lamerton** (3:22)
We should record this before, or we should record this after eating.
But it's that realization that no, I couldn't do that. But could I do it for a month? Yes, I probably could. What would happen after that month? I'd probably be much more mindful of the quality of meat that I'm consuming. I'd probably still eat less of it.
**Jason Brockman** (3:47)
You might even go, oh, actually, that wasn't bad.
**John Lamerton** (3:50)
Actually, do you know what? I could do this long term, but by committing and saying, I'm gonna do it for a month. Yeah, I can do that. Let's practice gratitude. We did the positivity one, didn't we? The Bring Me Sunshine campaign for a month.
Lots of people saw the results of that beyond that first month. The first month was great, got the momentum, got them going, was short enough that they were able to commit to doing it for a month.
