When the hottest trade starts to cool, the real story begins. So in this episode of The Pomp Podcast, Anthony Pompliano sits down with Jordi Visser to talk AI, crypto, markets, and how the economy is fundamentally changing. And Visser doesn't hold back. He opens with this blunt take.
The AI trade as we knew it, the ability to get seven or eight times your money is over.
**SPEAKER_2** (0:28)
Wow, that's a bold statement. So where does he think the opportunity is now?
**SPEAKER_1** (0:34)
He says the focus has to shift to the second half of the year, where agentic AI becomes critical for crypto and portfolios. Open source and open weight models are driving this shift, because intelligence is getting cheaper, more diverse, and more widely available.
Interesting.
**SPEAKER_2** (0:51)
So the commoditization of AI is actually accelerating things rather than slowing them down?
**SPEAKER_1** (0:58)
Exactly. Visser points out that Chinese open source models have caught up in a meaningful way. This is pushing adoption and driving the market toward what he calls routers, where companies use different levels of intelligence for different tasks.
But here's the kicker. The biggest constraint isn't just energy or compute, it's capital, and especially memory.
**SPEAKER_2** (1:20)
That's why he keeps returning to hardware, right? He actually says AI equals memory and compares context windows to that movie 50 First Dates, where daily amnesia means nothing gets retained. So we're seeing this scramble for GPUs, data centers, and faster memory, while prices rise and supply stays tight.
**SPEAKER_1** (1:44)
And that pressure shows up in company strategy too.
He points to Google as a company betting the farm on AI, with cloud revenue rising sharply and a huge backlog of contracted demand. Meanwhile, Anthropic's growth is slowing as the market shifts from token maxing toward efficiency.
**SPEAKER_2** (2:04)
There's also a deeper philosophical battle happening underneath all this business competition.
Visser describes DeepSeek as mission-driven around AGI and says China's role makes it more than just normal corporate rivalry. Though he argues lawsuits, model copying, and cross-pollination are just how business works when innovation moves this fast.
**SPEAKER_1** (2:27)
Building on that point, the discussion shifts to robotics and what Visser calls the beginning of an end-of-capitalism dynamic. He mentions Travis Kalanick is building a large stealth business around digitizing the physical world, using AI, logistics, and automation to cut costs.
The idea is abundance grows as every component of cost gets broken apart and optimized.
**SPEAKER_2** (2:53)
Which has massive implications for labor, inflation, and central banks. Visser argues AI isn't wiping out jobs overnight, but markets are already looking two or three years ahead.
He says the Fed needs to think forward because robotics could create powerful deflationary pressure.
**SPEAKER_1** (3:13)
On crypto, Visser says Bitcoin has shown strength, but the bigger shift is structural.
He expects agentic AI to matter more for crypto, while the market looks toward revenue, Ethereum, and stable coins. And get this, he's skeptical Bitcoin needs new legal clarity, saying Bitcoin doesn't need the Clarity Act because it already has clarity.
**SPEAKER_2** (3:39)
He's even sharper on regulation limits. You can't regulate intelligence, he says.
For Visser, the message is simple. The old and new financial worlds are merging fast, and investors need to do their homework now before the next wave arrives.
