Hammer and Nigel.
**Nigel** (0:01)
You believe these characters?
**Hammer** (0:02)
They're weirdos.
Well, Hammer, you hate to start a segment with this, but these heroes that have paid the ultimate price and shed their blood deserve to be identified, deserve to have their names said aloud. The military death count for the United States from this Iranian war has risen to 17 And just imagine knowing, putting pen to paper, signing on the dotted line to go into the military, and knowing that could mean someday, you're going to be put somewhere, and you could come home in a coffin.
**Nigel** (0:37)
It's the ultimate sacrifice. Sometimes those words get said a lot, and it doesn't really set in until you think about what that really means. And unfortunately, this past Friday, I believe is when the attack took place, three United States servicemen and women lost their life. The United States Department of Defense has identified two of the three servicemembers killed in action. The servicemembers were 25-year-old, First Lieutenant Tyler James Frien of Iwa Beach, Hawaii, and 19-year-old Private Isabella Gonzalez of Carrollton, Texas. So, yeah, 19 years old.
United States military personnel also found unidentified remains at that location because there was another servicemember that had gone missing. This is believed to be that individual. They've not identified the remains yet, but...
**Hammer** (1:41)
And this was again an attack from Iran at a base in Jordan where US military personnel were stationed.
**Nigel** (1:48)
Correct. 25 year old and 19 year olds giving their lives for their country. And again, so many of our listeners have served. Like we have a lot of vets that serve, that listen to this program. And this show Hammer and Nigel, we try to do as much as we can to take care of veterans. We do a charity bowling event every year.
We do on-air fundraisers every Veterans Day for various different groups. Not the same group, different groups. These people are important, and you need to be reminded ultimately why we need to take care of these people. If you're brave enough, like you said, Nigel, to sign that dotted line and put on the uniform and defend this country, there are going to be some serious risks involved. And unfortunately, that's what we're seeing right now. Death toll up to 17 in this war in Iran.
Donald Trump speaking on the soldiers that lost their life.
**Donald Trump** (2:50)
We feel very badly, but you know, those great people, those great patriots who are out there fighting that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
**Hammer** (2:59)
Yeah, I don't want a nuclear Iran. I mean, on a totally different level here, on a different subject almost, I don't want a nuclear Iran. That is huge trouble if that happens.
**Nigel** (3:10)
And I'm the civilian here, right? That's what I would be called from the military folks. I'm the civilian. I want my cake and I want to eat it too.
I don't want Iran to have a nuke, but I also want this thing to come to a conclusion. And that doesn't mean packing up and going home with it not done, with it being incomplete. I want the United States military to obliterate this country so damn bad right now, they have no choice but to either wave the white flag or we leave it in such ruin, there's no possible way they're going to be making a nuke anytime soon. And I want that to be as soon as possible. I'm the greedy civilian American, and I get that. Here's Marco Rubio.
**Marco Rubio** (3:57)
I think we're always open to diplomacy. It has to be real. It has to be a deal that they're willing to live by. Look, Iran a week ago was supposed to put out a statement saying that the Straits of Hormuz would be open, that they would no longer attack shipping. And instead of doing that, they attacked three ships. I think that was last Friday or Saturday. So, I mean, their behavior has to change in order for ours to change.
**Hammer** (4:18)
It just seems like the plan is to wait it out for Iran. We're going to wait this out as long as possible. We're going to stretch them as thin as we can.
Let the midterms pass by. Maybe then people forget about us.
**Nigel** (4:35)
And for some folks like me, and I admit, I have very little patience, right? I'm not somebody you want to look to in terms of playing the long game, right? I want this to be over quickly and I want to win.
It's hard to hear that. It's hard to hear that because every day that this goes on, it starts to look more and more like what we were promised. It wasn't going to be. And that's a long-term war overseas. Donald Trump ran on the no new wars guy, but he also was America first. So if you honestly believe that they were building a nuke and they were going to use that nuke to terrorize either the United States or our allies. All right, fine. If you feel military intervention is the best approach, rock and roll. You know, let's do this thing, but do it. I feel like we've kind of kept our foot off the gas.
