All right, welcome Brian Sanchez.
**Brian Sanchez** (0:03)
Hey, nice to be here.
**Derek** (0:05)
Thanks for making this happen, man. I appreciate you making the time.
**Brian Sanchez** (0:10)
Oh, dude, definitely. I was really bummed that we didn't get to do it the first time. And so when you got back to me, I was like, yeah, 100%.
**Derek** (0:18)
Yeah, so I've been wanting to talk to you for a while now, especially about this unique surgery and the incredible results that you have from it. And they got a lot of attention on social media for a while, and then it kind of just faded away seemingly. And no one really talked about it after that, because I guess there wasn't anyone with as insane of a story as you that had come out of the woodwork. And then recently we reconnected. And yeah, so here we are sitting down to talk about limb-lengthening surgery, which is pretty wild. If you guys followed Brian before, you used to go by Got My Knees Done on social media, I believe. Is that correct?
**Brian Sanchez** (1:03)
Yeah, that's what it is. Yeah. I changed it recently to Brian the Sasquatch, because-
**Derek** (1:09)
Fitting.
**Brian Sanchez** (1:10)
Thank you. Because I'm a huge believer in the power of words. And even though this was like a pop culture reference to White Chicks. Have you ever seen White Chicks?
**Derek** (1:23)
Long time ago.
**Brian Sanchez** (1:24)
Okay. Love that movie. Anyway, there's a scene in it where the Waynes Brothers characters, they meet the White Girls' friends, and they're like, Oh, did you get taller? And they're like, No, we got our knees done. You can do that. And so it was a pop culture reference to that. It's like I got my knees done, meaning I got, you know, I had the heightening surgery, nothing to do with my actual knees. But then I started getting knee pain. I'm like, Man, I should probably not call myself got my knees done. Because somehow I'm a big believer in the power of words, and I just don't want to like to give myself that jujitsu. I changed it over to something different.
**Derek** (2:03)
So there's a quick, high level primer for everyone watching who's not familiar with you and kind of your content when it was first popping off on social media. And like probably unintentionally, were you trying to go viral with the content or just trying to document or like, what was it exactly?
**Brian Sanchez** (2:22)
So originally, I used to have I used to have a social media account before. It was mostly just lifting stuff. And then I kind of wanted to get away from that. And I was going to stay private and have a like a Instagram documentation of my experience, but have it just be for my friends and family so that they know what's going on while I'm there, like so that they could feel good about me. Well, as good as is possible about me being in a foreign country, you know, they can at least see always progressing.
But then, when the gravity of what the heck did I just do, you know, kind of hit me. And I had gone to the hospital experience, which I'll go into more. And I was like, Oh, no, what am I doing? And I realized, like, it's not all so. It's a lot scarier than what I was expecting. I wanted to be treated with the utmost care possible. And so I was like, you know what? I'm pretty sure I can make this into a big, you know, a big following. People are going to follow me for doing this crazy thing. And I'm going to use it as leverage to make sure that these people take the best possible care of me. And so that's when I decided to just switch it over to public. And that was the entire reason was kind of as an insurance policy, just to make sure, because I'd only been there for like a few days, and I already was like kind of starting to get a little sketched out.
**Derek** (3:50)
So we're talking about the facility you went to to get limb-lengthening surgery to get from...
**Brian Sanchez** (3:56)
Yeah.
**Derek** (3:57)
What was your starting height? 5'11 or 6'8?
**Brian Sanchez** (4:00)
So in centimeters, it was... It depends, right? Because I measured myself at the beginning of the day, and it's over 183, and then I measured myself in the evening, and it was 182.5.
**Derek** (4:11)
So this is like, if you weigh yourself before or after taking your morning piss, but like spine compression version. I would say morning height is the legit height.
