We're following a late breaking story here too this morning. A plane has crashed into the World Trade Center Tower in New York City. This is absolutely spectacular. We'll have the latest from ABC in just a matter of moments here at 1070WYBC and from our news center too this morning. I'm telling you folks, this is incredible.
Plane that has crashed into the World Trade Center Tower in New York City. Some of this film is absolutely dramatic. And I've never seen anything like this. And we're going to get the latest from ABC in just a couple of seconds here. Again, this story just broke.

I know. I know I was telling you. Okay, okay, you're right. 100 percent. All right. Okay, cool. Yeah, what a day. What a morning that was.

**Jason Hammer** (1:32)
Terri, let me start with you, because you were a part of the morning show. Pige was sitting in the anchor chair. You were a big part of it. Take me through what was going on that morning.

**Terri Stacy** (1:42)
Well, that morning, I actually, it was 9-1-1 day.
September 11th is 9-1-1 day when you actually, before this all happened, when you honored those that work at 9-1-1, but calling 9-1-1, the operators, and learning how that system. So I was down at that building and I was doing and calling back to Pige, came back to the station and Pige was very sitting at the desk. And he was looking up at the monitors and it had just happened. The first plane crashed into the first building and it had just happened. And you were looking at things because they were starting to talk about the news came out that a plane had hit a World Trade Center. That was it. That's all we knew at that moment.

**Jeff Pigeon** (2:27)
We had CCTV up in the corner just like over here. So we were talking about Michael Jordan coming back to the Wizards or something.

**Jason Hammer** (2:35)
Right. It was his second NBA comeback before he joined the Wizards.

**Jeff Pigeon** (2:39)
So we're talking about that and I look up to my right and I see just a, it was a static camera that was pointed on the World Trade Center with this massive hole in the middle and nothing was crawling on the screen anymore at that time. Nothing. It was just that hole and then we got the report, then it started to crawl. Small plane has hit the World Trade Center.
We all knew, we looked up, you could see the wingspan. You knew it wasn't a small plane.

**Jason Hammer** (3:09)
Because at first, when you hear that, you think, okay, was it a helicopter? Was it a tourist plane? Because those things have happened before.

**Jeff Pigeon** (3:15)
Cessna. Right. That's, you know, a plane hit the Empire State Building, you know, years and years ago.
But the thing that was going through my mind, and I think everybody's mind at the time, not just us, nationally, news media, generals, whatever. And what's happening? How could a plane on a clear day fly smack dab in the middle of that building? So the first thing that goes through your mind, maybe it lost a tail, which, you know, maybe the pilot had a heart attack. Maybe both pilots had a heart attack.
Maybe it was a malfunction system on the plane. You just didn't know. How could that possibly happen?

**Terri Stacy** (3:54)
You never, never thought, you just, you really did not think this was a terrorist attack or an attack on our country at that moment. You just didn't. It had to be an accident.

**Jeff Pigeon** (4:03)
Yep. That's right. A horrific accident.

**Terri Stacy** (4:07)
And that's what, that's what was we continued to talk about. Is that we just don't know what this is at this moment. A lot of speculation. Just don't know. And then you started to hear things.
