It's July 1st, welcome in. This is New York Rangers News Today, where your team meets AI. I'm Corey with the story. The Rangers just made a big move, sending Vincent Trocheck over to the Utah Mammoth. In return, New York is bringing in defenseman Sean Durzi and a young center named Cole Beaudoin plus a third round pick in 2027
Trocheck was a solid player for them, known for his leadership and being a reliable guy on the ice for four seasons. He wasn't just about scoring, though he did put up some good numbers, finishing his time with the Rangers with 89 goals and 100
64 assists. He was a consistent presence, especially in the faceoff circle and playing strong on both ends of the rink. Durzi, who's six foot one, is expected to boost the Rangers defense. He's played for a few teams, most recently Utah, and put up 27 points in 60 games last season. He also had a career best year in Arizona back in 2023-2024, hitting career highs and goals and assists. Then there's Beaudoin, a 20 year old center who was a first round draft pick last year. He had a really strong season in the OHL, scoring 33 goals and racking up 55 assists in just 54 games. He also represented Canada at the under 20 level.
So, the Rangers are definitely retooling, bringing in some fresh talent on defense and up front while saying goodbye to a respected veteran. It'll be interesting to see how these new pieces fit into the lineup.
