I think you know where this is going. I erroneously sent you an email with quite the subject heading a couple of weeks ago. And I want to get down to the bottom of it. And because we do have some serious stuff to talk about, the latest on Iran, straight to Hormuz, Saudi Arabia, some nuclear deals going on there.
But in your inbox was a email from me with the subject heading, Cases of explosive diarrhea parasite continue to rise, but officials aren't sure what's causing it. And I can assure you at no time did I intend to send you this email about explosive diarrhea. But my favorite part of it...

**Frances Martel** (1:19)
There was no text in the email, by the way. Just so everyone knows, there's no text, so there's no explanation. There was a subject that had diarrhea in it and nothing else.

**Guy Relford** (1:28)
I think there may have been a link to an article, but no context to the link whatsoever. Here's what happens behind the scenes here. Also on this email, it was you, my boss, my executive producer, and Hammer. And what we do behind the scenes is all morning long, we email each other stories that we're interested in talking about. Of course, this was right down Hammer and Nigel's alley. This one and this... Now, I don't know if your email works the same way mine does, but sometimes names automatically pop up into the to heading to who you want to send it to.
For whatever reason, Frances Martel's name popped up in addition to both my bosses and Hammer. I did not know this. I did not know that I clicked on your name. So, all of a sudden, you get a random email from me, this esteemed journalist from a very giant news organization, talking about explosive diarrhea. And the best part is, you decided to wait two full days before you...
before you responded... You waited two full days before you responded, not only to me, but both my bosses and Hammer. And all it said was, I've had this in my inbox for two days, and I still have no idea how to respond to mysterious explosive diarrhea threat.

**Frances Martel** (2:52)
I didn't know two important things to contact you. I didn't know those were your bosses. I apologize. I was not blowing up your spot. No apology. And you were actually very prescient, because the explosive diarrhea bacteria story blew up like last week. Literally. This happened like three weeks ago. Yes.

**Nigel** (3:12)
Yeah, exactly.

**Frances Martel** (3:13)
So you were very ahead of the curve on this new story.
The first I ever heard of this and I saw it everywhere. Like I said, last week I saw it all over the place. Taco Bell, the lettuce, the trip with the lettuce. The first time I saw the story was your email. But I thought you had teased me thinking I had some sort of expertise or like some sources in the Explosive Diarrhea Beat community.

**Guy Relford** (3:40)
And I was just like, I don't know how to answer this.

**Frances Martel** (3:42)
It was sounding dumb. I didn't want to disappoint you and say like, I'm very sorry, but I have nothing to contribute.

**Guy Relford** (3:53)
I was looking for a source from Breitbart for the Explosive Diarrhea story. That's what I was doing.

**Frances Martel** (3:57)
Breitbart International Editor. Yeah, Breitbart. I can tell you if you can eat Taco Bell or not.

**Guy Relford** (4:02)
My apologies. I hope you got a good laugh out of that, though. Very embarrassing for me, though. I don't know how we transition from that to what people need to know about what's going on with the area and the United States war right now. But let's see if we can make that delicate pivot. And what do we need to know? What is the one thing?
If you had five inter... Okay, we've got like five, ten minutes here to explain this conflict to the American public. What would you want them to understand right now that they're not hearing as of now?

Well, I think the number one most important thing for every American is to know exactly why Iran is an enemy, right? Because I think you read these headlines, you know, CENTCOM says we bombed their stuff, they say we bombed, that they bombed our stuff, and why are we bombing each other? Iran is at the head of the world's most complicated and sophisticated terrorist network in the world. Iran funds and aids in other ways, groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen, a host of Iranian proxies in Iraq that have killed Americans. But Iran is also very closely linked to the government in Cuba, which is 90 miles away and we have a US military base there, and with the regime in Venezuela. And they have, there's a lot of research on Hezbollah operating, in particular, in the Amazon, in the tri-border area, which is Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil.
