Since Dr. Fauci took the stand today and did nothing but "plead the fifth" some Senators had no problem holding back when questioning him.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hammer and Nigel.

**Anthony Fauci** (0:01)
You believe these characters are weirdos?

**SPEAKER_1** (0:04)
So let's rock it.

**Josh Hawley** (0:05)
You could sit for InStyle Magazine, but you can't answer questions for the American people. You could sit for InStyle Magazine, but you're here taking the fifth. You could sit for InStyle Magazine and get a million bucks in cash awards. But now that cat's got your tongue, I bet he does.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:23)
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley tearing into Dr. Fauci today at a Senate hearing. I'm going to watch more on Hawley in just a moment.
Man, I don't know. Like it didn't really live up to the hype today. I don't know that it was tailgate worthy watching. It was more or less a roast because Fauci just stood there and pled the fifth the entire time. Didn't incriminate himself in any way, shape or form. I look at it as he had like three choices. He could have gone up there and said exactly what he said before when he was testifying in front of Congress, which, you know, you can't catch him in a lie if you're saying exactly what he said before. He could have played the old man role. Shoot, I think he is 86 years old. I don't recall, don't know, don't remember, blah, blah, blah.
Or you could have done what he did was be defiant and just sit up there with that look on his face, with his beady little eyes and his dourfish, impish looks on his face. And basically facially throwing the middle finger at everybody up there, grilling him, including Rand Paul.

**SPEAKER_4** (1:31)
Now, I think there could have been another option. He could have been even more smug because he got the preemptive pardon.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:38)
True.

**SPEAKER_4** (1:39)
From the auto pen. The auto pen wrote him the preemptive pardon. So he could have just went up there and said, you know, basically, fool Samuel L. Jackson in a time to kill. Yes, I did it. I hope they burn in hell.
And if you buy the pardon, there's nothing that could have happened to him.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:56)
Good point.

**SPEAKER_4** (1:57)
Now, Rand Paul, Senator Rand Paul, who was the chair of the Senate committee that was grilling Fauci today, he's trying to argue that because he took the pardon, then the Fifth Amendment should not apply. You should be able to speak when issued a subpoena.
So they're doing legal stuff about that. I don't know if anything's going to happen. I'm doubtful it will. But here is Rand Paul on Dr. Fauci pleading the Fifth.

**Rand Paul** (2:27)
The chairman has denied your assertion of privilege and directed you to answer. But you nonetheless refuse and stand on privilege despite the existence of the pardon.
The committee will have to consider after this hearing, what appropriate action should be taken against you for failure to testify after being directed to do so. It's against the law to obstruct an investigation of Congress. There will be repercussions to your refusal to testify today.

**SPEAKER_4** (2:53)
OK, I get what you're doing. You've got to put on the brave face. But we all know nothing ever, ever happens in these hearings. Nobody's going to jail. Nobody's going to get a slap on the wrist. Nobody ever has any sort of punishment when the Republicans are in charge.
Big Tech got away with censorship. Fauci and his good time party boys, they're going to get away with all the bull crap, the made up science, the lies. They're going to get away with it.
The Biden administration, they're going to get away with spying on members of the Trump camp. They're all going to skate because the Republicans in leadership are gutless, absolutely gutless.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:40)
Was kind of satisfying watching Fauci sit there and take it, though, from Rand Paul and Holley and all the other Republican senators. I mean, they were just dropping bombs on him left and right in regards to what he wrote in the diary as to as opposed to what he said in public.

**SPEAKER_4** (4:01)
And you could tell Fauci wanted to say more. Yeah, it was killing him to keep his mouth shut because he knows he's wrong. And the Dems covered this up.
They were lockstep with Dr. Fauci. They covered all this up. They got away with it. Here's the opening statement. And this is where Dr. Fauci was upset that the mean Republicans posted his stupid diary.

**Anthony Fauci** (4:27)
During and after the covid pandemic, I have appeared multiple times for hearings in the Senate and the House, usually under oath, and sat for several days-long transcribed sworn interviews, answering questions about the very issues that are now the subject of this hearing. However, given Senator Paul's obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution, his repeated slanderous comments about me, and recently his publicly releasing my unredacted personal diary aimed at embarrassing and intimidating me, the only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this committee is to get me to say something, anything that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, behind bars.
