Hammer and Nigel.
**SPEAKER_2** (0:01)
Do you believe these characters?
**Nigel** (0:02)
They're weirdos.
**SPEAKER_3** (0:03)
So let's rock!
**Nigel** (0:07)
Get the beer on ice. The Republican Midterm Convention is tonight, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Nigel Jason Hammer is here. Donald Trump, scheduled to speak tonight from Texas.
Hammer, this obviously moves the needle for you. I can't, I mean, this is tailgate worthy. We've got wings, we've got beer on tap, and this is the first ever Republican Midterm Convention. What say you?
**Jason Hammer** (0:36)
The NFL starts tonight. Are you telling me that?
**Nigel** (0:41)
Oh, yeah.
**Jason Hammer** (0:42)
The Republicans decide to do for the first time ever a midterm convention and the two random days that they decide to do it coincide with two nights that the NFL is kicking off their season. Tonight, it's the Patriots at Seattle Super Bowl rematch to kick off the season. Tomorrow, there's the big Australia game between the Super Bowl favorites, Rams and the 49ers. Great divisional matchup. Sure. So between Stephen Miller and all of these other nerds that work on the Trump campaign, there's not one sports guy that said, Hey, if you really want to dominate the news cycle, maybe we should do this not during the opening games of the NFL season. Because I got news for you, Nigel. I love this idea. I love the fact that the GOP has got enough disposable income to do a midterm convention, because the Democrats are broke. They're totally in the red.
But you're doing it on a night where nobody's going to watch. The networks aren't covering this. They've got like reporters there.
Fox News isn't going wall to wall. They're going to have speeches and some updates, but it's regular programming. I think Hannity is live from the convention, maybe Jesse Waters, too. Yeah, but you're competing against opening night of the NFL.
**Nigel** (2:16)
What's wrong with going? What's wrong with waiting a week? What's wrong with waiting until next week? Next Tuesday and Wednesday?
**Jason Hammer** (2:22)
What's wrong with doing it last week? Because you had nothing going on last week.
**Nigel** (2:28)
Nothing.
**Jason Hammer** (2:29)
Absolutely nothing.
But you chose the two nights where there happened to be NFL football. And I know not everybody loves football. Not everybody is into sports, but the real reality, and I heard somebody say this earlier, NFL football is the one thing that kind of brings us all together.
I am a conservative. Barack Obama is not. We could sit down at a stadium, be side to side, and have a mutual agreement that the Patriots suck. Like, that's the one thing. Like, the Super Bowl is the most viewed event that we have every single year as a nation. The NFL and football brings us all together. It's not always happy. It's not always good, but we're engaged in the storyline.
**Nigel** (3:20)
Are you saying you'd sit down with Obama and have a beer?
**Jason Hammer** (3:23)
I would. I'd sit down next to Joe Biden and Hunter Biden and have a beer and watch football, because I can have conversations with people that don't result in me wanting to assassinate them.
Now, the political left, they kind of feel different about that kind of stuff.
But that's also the difference between nerds and non-nerds. Like, I'm somebody that's pretty well versed in what's going on politically, but I don't consider myself a nerd. I played sports in high school. I was the president. I'm like Uncle Rico here, right? I'm giving you my Uncle Rico speech. I was on all the prom committees in the homecoming courts and all that stuff. I've been a pretty popular dude most of my life.
**Nigel** (4:06)
Did you throw a football a quarter mile?
**Jason Hammer** (4:09)
I was never the quarterback. In basketball, I was the goon. I was the guy brought in to foul the good guy.
But you've got to tell me that Donald Trump, billionaire TV star celebrity, there's never been a more polarizing political campaign than his. You don't have one sports guy on staff that would like tug you when you're kicking around this idea and go, Oh, sir, if you want to dominate the news cycle, you probably don't want to do it on the opening night of the NFL. Right. Like, you're going to lose momentum. You're going to lose publicity on what I think is a pretty good idea.
Now, if you are watching the convention tonight, the key speaker scheduled from like around 8 to 9 p.m. You've got Dr. Oz. You've got Byron Donalds, your guy, Nigel Scott, Besson and a few others. And then the old man, President Trump, he's going to go up there at 9 o'clock, around 9 o'clock, and he's the keynote tonight.
