Hi friends, welcome back to The Tamsen Show. I'm so glad you're here. So I don't know about you, but I grew up believing life was supposed to happen in a certain order. Like, I don't know who taught us all this, but somehow we all got the same message. First, you build a career, then you get married, then you have kids, and when all that happens for you, you finally feel successful. And when life doesn't unfold that way, we start measuring ourselves against everybody else. We wonder if we're behind or just missed our opportunity in our moment.
The truth is, there's no right timeline. Every woman I know has taken a different path, and so often the chapters they were most worried about ended up arriving in ways they never expected. Today's guest has lived that story in more ways than one. You may know her from the hit TV series This Is Us, but there is so much more to Chrissy Metz's story than what you saw on that screen. Today we're talking about delayed dreams, Broadway body image, choosing yourself, and why it's never too late for your life to surprise you. Before we get started, if you've listened to this show more than once and still haven't left a review, I'm officially calling you out. Please go do it. It helps more women find us and find these conversations, and I will be so grateful. All right, let's go ahead and get into it with Chrissy Metz.

Hey, I've got the campaign brief ready. Built from last quarter's data and the competitive landscape.
**SPEAKER_3** (1:18)
Approved. Oh, agents, where would we be without you?
**SPEAKER_2** (1:22)
Somewhere with a lot more tabs open.

This show is sponsored by Midi Health. Menopause doesn't happen overnight. It happens over years of nights. Hormones start shifting long before your period ends. And most doctors aren't trained to spot it. That's why Midi Health exists. And it's why I tell every woman I know about them. Midi is the only virtual care clinic built specifically for women navigating midlife hormonal changes from perimenopause through menopause. And yes, visits are covered by insurance. Chrissy, it is so good to see you.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:04)
Oh, so good to see you. So nice to be here. Thank you for having me.
**Tamsen Fadal** (2:07)
And the fact that you're going to do a show tonight on Broadway blows my mind a little bit. Same.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:11)
It blows my mind, too. I'm like, am I really doing this? I'm really doing it.
**Tamsen Fadal** (2:16)
You're really doing it. How does it feel right now? I mean, as Broadway, so you're in Ann Juliet.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:20)
Yes.
**Tamsen Fadal** (2:21)
How long have you been on so far? How many shows?
**Chrissy Metz** (2:23)
I think it's been 43 shows.
**SPEAKER_3** (2:25)
Oh my gosh.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:25)
Yes. I'm just getting the hang of it.
**SPEAKER_3** (2:27)
You're just getting the hang of it.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:28)
No, I joke, but like it's hard. It's hard and I'm no spring chicken.
**Tamsen Fadal** (2:32)
Oh, come on.
**Chrissy Metz** (2:33)
Yeah, no, really, truly. I'm not. And you know, everybody's so wonderful and it makes it so enjoyable. Like if I don't go, I think I've missed three shows and I'm like miss it when I'm not there. But like, I think six months ago, I don't know physically, I wouldn't be able to like do this. And thank goodness I've been like, you know, strength training and doing all that. Because I didn't think I was going to be doing Angel yet. I wasn't like, I saw it with Candy Burris, right? And I loved it, but I wasn't thinking like, oh, I'm going to play that role one day. And then my publicist was like, why don't you think about it? And I'm like, yeah, right, girl. Whatever.
I don't think that's going to happen. And, you know, Jeanette, who just left the show, she makes it look so easy. I was like, I don't think I can. But but I'm doing it. And it's so fun. It's one of the most challenging things I've ever done. But it's also one of the most rewarding things.
**Tamsen Fadal** (3:22)
It's so different also from television, from all the other things. And every time I think about it, you have eight shows a week. So that's like, that's a joke.
**Chrissy Metz** (3:31)
I'm basically an athlete, guys.
**Chrissy Metz** (3:33)
Honestly, like eight shows is no, it's like nothing to play with. It is not for the weak. It's not for the faint of heart. And I really think it's a young person's game. I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
