Yankees Fans Are OVERREACTING?! Carton & Big Mac Fire Back

All right, welcome back Carton Show Big Mac. Just real quick before Big Mac tells you why Yankee fans are stupid, that's his words, not mine.
The feds did indict Malik Beasley in that big gambling scandal, and there are text messages now to, in their belief, proves that he was purposely fixing the outcome of his props and having people wager on the outcome of his props. From what I read, it seemed like he was always the over, but I'm not exactly sure about that, but again, just consider for a minute that Malik Beasley made $60 million in the NBA, and was still, you know, allegedly helping guys win $100, $1,000 prop bets, despite the fact that he had earned $60 million in his NBA career, and by the way, would have earned more than that as a guy that's still under 30 years old, so we'll keep an eye on it. But that is a big, big kind of black mark on the NBA's relationship with legalized gambling, the fact that you have a player with $60 million in earnings who allegedly was helping guys win money gambling legally on the outcome of props that he was controlling. All alleged right now, but he was indicted.

Yeah, no. I mean, the other story too is Chris Johnson announced with AOL.

Oh yeah.

It's terrible.

Very sad.

It's a terrible story. He got diagnosed at 39 years old. I think it was last year he told Good Morning America Today.

**Craig Carton** (1:34)
And I think he's speaking with the aid of an AI program because the interview I saw with Michael Strahan, it's his voice, but his mouth, his lips aren't moving. And it's a thing I talked about when I met with Tim Ryan and did a podcast with Tim Ryan, the former broadcaster and football player, where when folks with ALS lose the ability to speak on their own, it used to be a robotic voice through a computer.

Now the AI technology is so great and it's so comforting to family members, as Tim was saying to me, with his son who's part of that podcast, to be able to hear like your dad's voice. In this case, his wife was sitting by his side, but beyond sad because there's no treatment for ALS, there's no cure for ALS, it's a disgusting, disgusting disease. And so sad that at such a young age she was diagnosed with it.

No, young age and we see it with athletes, it doesn't seem to discriminate this disease. You could be in the best shape, there's just no rhyme or reason why someone of his athletic prowess and at that age to have something like that is just terrible. It's awful. What are the scarier things?

Alright, so Yankee fans upset? Upset, of course, is the obvious. Well, listen, they should be upset.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:42)
I mean, listen, again, the Yankee fans should be upset. I just think we go down the road of this panic all the time, that I just, if you're watching this series, and it was ugly, like you watched it, I watched it, ugly. They were no hit in three of the four games through four innings. Sonny Gray doing it to them last night. I didn't even think Sonny Gray was all that well, all that great. I know the broadcast was completely glazing him.

I think there was more Yankees than Sonny Gray.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:04)
I think it was too last night. I totally agree with you. And here's the big issue. Like, let's be totally honest, two things. One, obviously, this is not the team that is going to be heading into the postseason. If it is, then we have reason to panic. But, you know the injuries and you know the trade deadline. They literally don't have Judge. I think the Grisham injury has turned out to be a huge injury, far bigger than anybody suspected, because we're seeing how it affects the defense in the outfield as well as the offense that he was providing, which, by the way, he was having an incredible two-week stretch.
You still don't have Max Fried in the rotation. Like, this is not the team right now that you will see. And yes, we talk about the team's depth, and that's why we felt like the team would be in a better position than it was in 2023 when it completely went down the tank without Judge. But depth is supposed to be depth. We're talking about a month now, and they played well for a stretch, and they won a bunch of series, and they scored a ton of runs. Right now, they're going through it.
