I guess we must. Welcome to the Go Get Them Podcast, where we will discuss the most embarrassing weekend of the season and what was culminated and capped off by the worst loss of the season as the Yankees get swept in Fenway against the last place lousy team, who's particularly bad in this building. The Yankees have been a nightmare in Fenway.
We spent so much time last year talking about Toronto and what a terrible building that is.
Let's be honest, Fenway is probably worse. It just didn't cost them the same way Toronto cost them in the playoffs, and I don't think it would happen again this year.
Wouldn't expect them to go on a run, but Yankees offense gets completely shut down, pretty much the entire series.
And this game tonight, I mean, they're being no hit by Sunny Gray. And I'll be honest, as much as the NBC broadcast of Middlebrooks and Roger Clemens was glazing all over Sunny Gray the whole game, I thought Sunny Gray was good. Don't get me wrong, hold on to me.
Plug in my laptop just because I could sense that's gonna be a problem midway through.
But I thought Sunny Gray was good tonight, but I didn't think Sunny Gray was great tonight. I thought he left a lot of balls middle middle, to be quite honest with you. I thought the Yankees offense was terrible. Yankees offense has been terrible. And I'll continue to say it, for me, the biggest reason why this team right now, because let's be honest, right? And I'll, you know me, I'll try and, I'm fair. I know many of you might think of it as something different. But yes, Judge is out. Yes, Stanton's out. Yes, Grisham has been a far more big injury than we think, maybe initially. It's turning out to be a huge one for the defensive outfield, offensively too. He was really good for the last two weeks. Really the whole season hitting the ball hard, but you don't have to have the Grisham argument. But it's been a very tough injury for them. And they are missing guys, plus Max Freed, no doubt. This is not the team we're going to see in August. But this team, the same team I yelled and yelled, this is not 2023 This team isn't, you know, Bowers and Calhoun and Francie Cordero. And, you know, the disaster that was that team. This is a different team. This is a better team.
They're good enough to not get swept at Fenway by this lousy Red Sox team. So there's no excuse making as far as injuries. I'm sorry. You split? Okay. Even if you would have won tonight, this podcast probably has a different tone because of how they came back in this game. It's still a lousy series to lose three out of four in Fenway, but at least they rallied late. They get a win. It's the last win of the last game of the series. You move on. You come home. You feel a little bit better off that win. Instead, we get a disastrous loss after being no hit. And I don't care too much about these stats. Whatever their record is in Fenway the last five years, it's a disaster. They haven't been swept at Fenway in a four-game series since 2018
It's the first time they've been no hit through five and three consecutive games since 1963 Like, whatever. Like, who cares about all that stuff? I know we get wrapped up in it. That's fine. This offense is terrible right now. And I continue to say it. I still feel like it's the truth. The main issue is, we know Wells is awful. That's not going to change. We know some of the ancillary pieces. We'll get to Jazz in a second, who is just, you know, doing unacceptable stuff. But to me, it's Bellinger and Rice. I'll continue to say it. Belly and Rice are the two most important hitters on this team. They need to be the guys in the middle of the lineup. Ben Rice has done exactly nothing. He ends up having to sacrifice. Fine, we'll go through this game because it's exciting, and there's twists and turns, and everything that happened in the 9th and 10th.
