Welcome to another episode of the Go Get Em Yankee podcast with me, Chris McMonigle, on this Sunday night as we're still basking in the glow of a Knick championship. Sorry, I should have taken out the cough drop before I started, but still dealing with a little bit of a cough. So I have a cough drop with me, but that's fine. I'm still dealing with a championship, trying to come to grips with it. Let's Ryan come say hello. Look at our producer, Ryan. Lucky enough to be at the ball parlor. Look at him.

And his Jalen Brunson jersey off of what, just an incredible performance. I mean, just we're waiting for a Yankee to be as good and as clutch in the big moments as Jalen Brunson has been and him securing that victory in game five, scoring 45 of the 94 points scored. Like, insane.

More than most clutch performances from a New York athlete outside of what? Reggie's three home runs in a clinching game? I mean, I did have that thought watching the game. Like, man, this is what I want to see Aaron Judge do one October. Like a clinching game. Obviously he was great last postseason. You want to see it in a World Series, but yeah, I mean, that's the same thing I said to my brothers when we were all texting each other celebrating last night. Like the only thing that could make this better is if 2026 also includes a Yankee title.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:46)
Yeah, no, I mean, listen, we've seen it before at 69 and 70 Had multiple championships. And not only did Jalen Brunson become what we hope Aaron Judge would become and become, but that team did what I and get, you know, I get a lot of flack from some certain Yankee fans about this. It's about getting hot at the right time. That Nick team wasn't perfect all year. We had a lot of doubts about that Nick team. A lot of things went wrong for that Nick team. A lot of, you know, ugly losses for that Nick team. Gotten getting dominated by a particular team. We've seen that with the Yankees in Toronto, which we'll get into now obviously, with a big series win in Toronto. But like they ended up not having to play the Pistons, but the Pistons are going to be a problem all year. Like not a perfect team.
And then they did what I hope and expect the Yankees to be able to do one day and be the hot team at the right moment. Be that team that gels at the right time. Be that team that becomes the buzzsaw and goes through the postseason and knows how to win. We saw it once, it was a long time ago. It was called the 90s. We saw it and hopefully one day we will see it again. But yeah, we are still celebrating a Nick Championship. I'm exhausted.
I was up till 2 o'clock in the morning watching everything, sipping my Victory Martini. Then I was up this morning at 7 a.m. on WFAN to do a little bit of championship celebration. So it's been a long day. It's been a great day. And we are still enjoying a championship. But our focus now can turn exclusively to the New York Yankees for a while, right? No more Nick run, no more playoff games, no more. It's all over. The Knicks are champions. Jalen Brunson is. And if we want to have this conversation here on the podcast, I don't know if we have to. But I've been pushing back on the idea that Jalen Brunson is the King of New York. I think Judge is the better player. Judge is a better baseball player than Jalen Brunson is a basketball player. He's been here longer. He's homegrown. He's won MVPs.
