**Craig Carton** (0:00)
Oh, who's the hero?
**Chris McMonigle** (0:08)
I'm sorry to laugh, I thought we were trying to... Who sings this song?
**Pete Hoffman** (0:13)
Bonnie Tyler.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:14)
Bonnie Tyler, she passed away?
**Pete Hoffman** (0:16)
Yeah, 75
**Chris McMonigle** (0:17)
Not today, today, did she?
**Pete Hoffman** (0:18)
Today, today.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:18)
Today, today, or just day in history?
**Pete Hoffman** (0:19)
I didn't put on a list, but today, today.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:21)
Like today, like just passed away?
**Pete Hoffman** (0:22)
Just today.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:24)
You got me singing the song, and now I'm laughing.
**Pete Hoffman** (0:26)
Great song.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:28)
That song, actually, it's funny. It's one of my favorite and what was her name again? I'm sorry. Terrible names.
**Pete Hoffman** (0:34)
Bonnie Tyler.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:35)
Bonnie Tyler. Sorry to hear that Bonnie Tyler passed away. It's a great song.
And I only because I was singing along to it. He's like, yeah, I'm playing it. I'm like, who's the hero? I'm playing it because she passed away. Okay. Tell me that before you play it, before I start singing it. But anyway, not that singing is bad. I'm going to shut up now and just continue with my story. Um, that song is one of my favorite pieces I ever did for Steve Summers. Back in the day, I'm sure you'll remember this, the Mets were not playing well and squandering a lead in 2008 Not the seven and 17 one, but the end of the 2008 season.
And they were playing, I believe, the Marlins again at the end of the year. Oh yeah. And Yohan Santana had a great start before the final game of the year. And they needed that start badly. And that night, I think it was a day game.
**Pete Hoffman** (1:32)
It was a day game. I was there. Game 161
**Chris McMonigle** (1:34)
Santana pitches a great day game. And that night, I put together a piece with Santana Strikeouts and Santana Highlights to, with that song, We Need a Hero. I wonder if it's in the system somewhere now.
But I have to look for it. I mean, again, it's September 2008, Need a Hero, in the Steve Summer files. I put that piece together that night for Steve. I don't know why I remember that, but I remember it.
**Pete Hoffman** (2:03)
And you felt good about that?
**Chris McMonigle** (2:05)
I felt good about the piece. I thought it was good. My favorite of all time was the first one I ever did from it. And that's probably why I feel it's my favorite. I did Star Wars, Jabba.
I had like a Jabba-themed Star Wars piece, because it was 2007 season, and Jabba was just hitting the scene as a reliever. And I had like a bunch of clips I had Harrison for and going, we've been waiting, hey kid, we've been waiting for you. And then it was like a whole bunch of Jabba stuff. It was awesome. That's it for SNY, I apologize, bye SNY. But that was my favorite bit I did for Steve was my first one ever. It was a Star Wars Jabba spoof on Jabba the Hutt type thing. That was the first thing I ever did for Steve. It's my personal favorite. But I do remember doing, we need a hero for Santana in that start. It didn't go well the next day, but Santana was really good. The next day was the closeout Shea game.
It was not good.
**Pete Hoffman** (3:09)
That was back to back years in 7 and 8 I was at game 161
The John Mayne near no hitter. They were up like 50 to 1 or whatever it was. And the Reyes fight. The next day they get blown out with Tom Glevin on the mound. And then the next year 8 I'm at the game 161 again. Santana great game and then 162
**Chris McMonigle** (3:30)
And then it was Oliver Perez right in 162
**Pete Hoffman** (3:32)
I mean it doesn't make a difference who it was. They were going to lose that game no matter what.
Just like game 162 in Miami this year. Last year in 2025
**Chris McMonigle** (3:42)
Yes, that was rather... And Mets fans say I don't talk about the Mets. Look here you go. I'm bringing up fond memories. Alright so real quick Pete, before we get back to your Yankee calls and we do got to talk about Brian Cashman giving us some updates on Judge and Stanton.
Tomorrow we're going to play Would You or Wouldn't You with the Mets fan. Today I ask you care or not care?
Care or not care? Manaya had a really good start and has now pitched much better through 7 innings today, 2 runs. Sean Manaya pitching much better for the New York Mets. Care or not care?
