Spent some time this morning with my main man, Paul Verzi, very talented, famous comedian, doing his podcast. And he made a point to me, it's interesting. Right now, by most accounts, at most, there are 200 really awesome touring comics in the world. And that might be a high number.

And I let that number sing in. He, of course, is one of them. All right, you know, legitimately successful, can play every main comedy store.

If he calls up there, they'll say, yes, of course.

100% can sell out, not arenas necessarily, but theaters. Right, right. They could sell out The Beacon, that kind of thing. That at most, 200 And of those 200, there are really only 50 that are active at any one time that could go to any room in America and sell a couple hundred tickets and be the man or gal, right? And I was letting that sing in for me for a second because that means there are fewer top-notch comics in our country than there are professional athletes. Yeah, of course. Like, let that sing in because how hard it is to become a pro athlete, right? Almost impossible. Like, it's like less than one-one hundredth of a percent of kids that play high school sports ever sniffed the pros. Those are the actual numbers, right?
There are fewer stand-up comics in the country than professional athletes at that level. Right, right.

I mean, less kids try and get into it. It's more... For sure, for sure.

More like tens of thousands.

There's not, oh, yeah. What are you doing this weekend with Johnny? Well, he's got the stand-up comedic league. You know, he's going on third this week. We're hoping it's a good one. Like, it's different. But, yes.

Like, every class clown does not become a stand-up comedian, right?

Of course. It's not... The point is, it's rare to be successful at it or rare to be really good at it. It is. It's very difficult.

Yeah.

It's hard to just stand up there and be funny.

Yeah, which is why I did this podcast.

Yeah. Like, if Joe over there was like, I think I'm really funny, would you do my podcast? No. No. Probably not.

I've only mentioned a couple of times, but I'm sure you'll never be a stand-up comedian.

I'm also one of these guys that believes skin cancer is not caused by the sun, by the oils and lotions we put on our body. But that's another story for another day. Because here's Mike at OBI. Mike, what's going on today, Cookie?
