You are on Wake Up with Christopher DeSimone. Bill isn't patiently waiting, thank you very much. Mothermucker, Murph88, John, Patricia, good morning to you all. Thanks for joining us. Yes, Keir Starmer is gone as the bizarre Prime Minister of England. He really has put a finishing move on a once great country. So, I was watching my talk sport coverage of the World Cup this morning. They're in New York, but this is the British sports thing, and they were talking about it a little bit. Their boy, Simon Jordan, pretty smart guy, used to own one of the clubs there. He was just talking about how the Prime Minister's office for the last so many years, maybe the last decade has been an absolute train wreck in England. So, good luck, good luck to our brothers and sisters on the other side of the pond, as we like to say. Captain Bob Wells makes his triumphant return back from vacay, so he'll be here in 56 minutes, Brother Joe after that. Lots of stuff to cover today. Weekend report, let's see, Friday. What did we do Friday? Friday did something. Friday was like, Friday was actually go out and fix signs day and do some campaigning stuff. We had that going. Alan Greenspan died today? Interesting. Overcast with 100% chance of rain in Possebutton, Tennessee. Yeah, I was watching the weather this morning. Looks a little wild in that area, even through Virginia up through Bastin in the next 24 hours. Let's see. Got my last lawman book from Amazon. So, Neil's book is in my hands. And then I got another book that a couple of younger folks in my life wanted me to get. So, I might read, it's always tough to read simultaneously. Maybe I'll read, Neil's is shorter, the other one's way longer. You know, Neil's is like 280, 300 pages, 280 pages, I forgot. The other one, I got some 1200 pages. So, maybe I'll read Neil's first.
So, let's see. Saturday morning was sign stuff first thing in the morning. Then I was picking up some bagels and coffee for the crew. We were doing some bundling and collating of postcards. You got to do at least one mailing in this election. So, we had coffee bagels and about nine of us were collating and bundling for a direct mail piece through the US Postal Service. So, early ballots go out Wednesday. So, make sure you're ready to roll.
So, we did that Saturday. Oh, we went to the Highlands with some family friends. Had a wonderful... they nailed the pizzas on. The pizzas are usually good, but the guy who was cooking, I asked for a little char on the edges. Just nailed it. It was one of those two-hour dinners where we were just talking and laughing. It was very, very good. And again, the most expensive large pizza there is about 19 bucks. And it was dead on. It was dead, dead on. And then Sunday was Father's Day, of course. So, church in the morning. And then, had to get a, kind of do a little, little behind the scenes office work with the campaign. And then, then, you know, the fam wanted to do Father's Day. So, we had a wonderful, quiet, peaceful, tasteful Father's Day. So, very, very good. And maybe I didn't say it Friday, but happy Father's Day to all of you out there. Birth fathers, fathers who have become fathers, who have stepped into the breach of absent fathers, whether they are, somehow they passed away to tragedy, or they just suck as birth fathers. And God bless you all. I always put a couple of similar quotes on Wastebook. They're just too good. One was from Billy Graham. A good father is the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. And the other one of course is Harper Lee from Mockingbird. She did not stand alone, but what stood behind her, the most important moral force in her life was the love of her father. Yeah, the absentee father for the last 60 years has been one of the most devastating forces in America. And we are still reeling from absentee fathers, and fathers should be just as celebrated as mothers. You know, it seems that Father's Day is always very muted compared to Mother's Day. I think they should be both triumphed, loud and clear.
You know, like, you know, the, you know, I know they say they barbecue more for dad and all this stuff, and the restaurants aren't as busy on Father's Day as they are on, you know something? They should be. We all have people that we know, or they're in our family, right, where you see kids suffer because of crappy fathers. So when there's good fathers, great fathers, fathers trying their best, that needs to be celebrated at least for that one day. And so hopefully you did it good for your dad or grandfather. And again, whether they're related by blood or not, there's plenty of good men that have adopted kids, right? They've adopted kids, they've stepped into the breach. The guy who marries the woman who has three kids and you know, and sometimes that scares the hell out of guys. I don't want to marry a woman with three kids. But you know something? They do it and they make it happen. They make those kids their own. And if you are improving the lives of three growing human beings, that is a badge of honor in God's heaven. So, we'll get there one day, my friends, we'll get there one day. Let's do some rundowns here. We have Columbia announces election results in one day.
