Welcome back, it is hour number two of VSiN PrimeTime here on VSiN, the Sportsbetting Network. Femi Abebefe, Will Hill here with you guys on a Tuesday night. As always, you can watch us at vsin.com/watch, the VSiN Watch app as well. And you can listen to us live on Sirius XM Channel 158 where we're in your ear 24 seven. If you were listening to us in the last hour, good on you. But also, you know that our VSiN PrimeTime game of the night is the Cubs and the Cardinals and the Cubbies in the top of the first have a two nothing lead on Michael McGreevey and the St. Louis Cardinals. Looks like the outfielder just made a bad play to be quite honest out there and right. I thought McGreevey was gonna get out of another jam, but the outfielder did not wanna help him out. So it's a two nothing Cubs. We will take it however we can get it as we have the Cubs money line, at least I have the Cubs money line for my best bet of the night. But we will put the baseball off to the side for now and turn our attention with what's going on on the hardwood. Because to help us break down the news of the NBA off season, we bring in Las Vegas odds maker, the one and only Jeff Sherman, who joins us via the Progressive Guest Line. And he's on Twitter at GolfOdds. We will get to the PGA tour because Jeff does have some thoughts on the Rocket Classic in the Motor City this week. But we have to start with LeBron James, signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. How do you move those sixers odds when LeBron signs on Friday to put together, on paper at least, one of the better starting fives that we have in the NBA?
**Jeff Sherman** (1:44)
Yeah, it is. And you know, the one thing is at the time, the market was pretty much 20 to one on the sixers for the title. I thought the initial response would be about 14 to one. I thought mostly go to 12 and 10
Didn't have a problem with 12, but then there was a natural reaction. That's the one thing that you have to anticipate is no matter what you move it to, people still want to be involved with this. So there was movement from 12 to one down to pretty much settled around nine to one, eight and a half to one out there on the market.
I think it's a little bit too much because that team was already established at 49 and a half wins. Their win total just went up a couple. It's like 50 and a half, 51 now. So I think it's too much of a reaction in the title market, but people just want to play them, and that's what's going on now. The one thing you have to consider here too is when they went to 10 to one, I saw some of the prediction markets that had Sixers title at like no minus 870 So you're getting the arbitrage and going between it that is driving the sportsbook prices down on it. That's why I think you see it a little bit over adjusted.
**Will Hill** (2:51)
Jeff, we'll just stick to the East here because it's funny, Femi and I have been doing shows all summer and Jalen Brown gets traded, LeBron goes, Yannis gets traded. There's all these fun moves and just from an entertainment, a talk radio standpoint, there's plenty to talk about. Then I remember, hey, we're a betting network and if somebody asked me, hey, what's the best bet right now? I just shrugged my shoulders. You know what? All the lines look right. I don't know that there's a great bet. Let me ask you, if you had to bet something right now, if you had to bet against your own numbers, something in the East, is there anything that's worth a bet in your opinion?
**Jeff Sherman** (3:23)
I think the one thing out there that is a little bit long, and I know you can look at the top seven, eight teams and say one of these teams might not make the playoffs if you get to nine. But I still think relative value is the Atlanta Hawks. They're still 80 to one, they're high for the East. Not saying they're going to win the East, but I think that they can improve over the course of the season. I think their win total is slightly low. I was a little bit higher on them. They have a young team, they've added some pieces this off season, and everyone is looking at the big teams and what they did, like you mentioned, Giannis LeBron, Jalen Brown, and that's where the focus is.
