An abbreviated baseball card on Thursday, but the entire league, all 30 teams in action on Friday.
And we have a few plays we want to discuss. And by we, I mean, he is Will Hill, I am Doug Kezarian. This is VSiN PrimeTime. So most of the matchups on Friday, Will, as you know, are new series. A couple of them are extending what started on Thursday, like Royals Tigers. Tigers had the comeback win on Thursday and hung on in the ninth inning. And now they're a scubal on the bump. He's one of the biggest favorites of the day, not the biggest. Brewers are 245 range over the Rockies. With their, I guess, ace, Sagano going for Colorado, that game in Milwaukee. Some other legitimate aces on the bump as well.
Schlittler going for the Yanks, Logan Webb, not really living up to his ace label, but he is one for San Francisco in many ways. What's your favorite play, at least now, looking at this Friday baseball card?
**Will Hill** (2:13)
Very rarely you get Cam Schlittler and the Yankees as an underdog. I know it's in Philly. I know they're on the road. Philly is a good team, but I like doing this.
Give me the Yankees in the first five, get in the half a run, and I think probably about 25 cents, something like that. But in a game that you think should be well-pitched, getting that half a run is so valuable. I get the AL short shot here for Cy Young, and I get a half run in the first five. That will be one that is tempting for me. Cubs-Pirates is interesting. I keep looking at the Pirates and just waiting for them to make a run here. I think if they got in the playoffs, they'd be very interesting. So some interesting games. I like the Yankees getting the half run in the first five. Lean towards the Pirates. I like Jared Jones. He's been impressive. I think he's going to be a really good pitcher. Skeens is obviously the star. Dates-Livvy done and all that, but they've got Jones. They've got Braxton Ashcraft. They got a lot of good young arms. So Pittsburgh is a team I'm looking at.
Texas-Seattle, a very important game out. Westduck don't have a play there, but that's an interesting match up with Miller going first Seattle. And I was looking at this W and I'm curious your thoughts, your plays, what you're leading towards. Just to show you how watered down the American League is the AL West. The A's are 16 games under 500 going into Friday, 43 and 59 There are only eight games out of first place for eight games. Yeah, that's a lot, but it's like doable. It just shows you like the angels, I think are 21 under and like a 10 and a half games out. So it's a wide open AL West. That's a big series. So what are you looking at? My favorite play is Yankees plus a half in the first five.
**Doug Kezarian** (3:44)
Well, I've been fading the A's like literally the last like month. And I actually at the All-Star break, I said the best bet on the board. I made it my biggest play of the season is under 71 and a half wins on the adjusted win total. If 31 and 35 beats me, so be it seems hot garbage. And that was right when Kurtz went to the injured list. They're just bad. And we saw that with Arizona. They did get a win over the weekend, but they have no pitching except for maybe jump here and there. And Springs pitched okay in his last game. They just have nothing. And the offense is so overrated. So yes, they're eight games back, but just not a team I want to get behind. But you're right. The Ale only has a couple teams above 500 It's pretty remarkable. I think it's a really tough card to be honest.
