6 p.m. Pacific here in downtown Las Vegas. I'm Doug Kezarian alongside Will Hill as we are tracking this exciting now Tigers Royals game. Kansas City has rallied back after a three-run shot by Altman to give the Tigers the lead. It is now 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning. So a little back and forth game after we were scoreless through five. So a few things, the under seven and a half on life support after a scoreless first five innings. Right now we're going to bring in Brett McMurphy, America's college football insider, former colleague of mine at ESPN, now with on three.
Brett, good to be with you, man. I know you just attended SEC Media Days. There's always a spotlight there. Networks are going live there. You're obviously plugged in as more than anyone. What was your sort of biggest takeaway from this year's hoopla?

**Brett McMurphy** (2:06)
Yeah, Doug, good to talk to you again, buddy. Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that none of the coaches like the fact that they're playing a ninth conference game this year for the first time. They've had eight conference games in the past. Now they go to nine conference games.
I know you're a math whiz. I'm not a math whiz, but even I can figure out that that means eight more losses for the conference because you have that additional conference game. Their biggest fear, Doug, is that the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will not reward the conference for playing what they consider a tougher strength of schedule than any other conference.
They're very adamant about it. They're very public about it. They actually met with the College Football Playoff representatives in Destin for spring meetings a couple of months ago, and they were not happy with the discussions they had with the committee because they got no guarantee that they're going to be rewarded for playing these tougher games. Steve Sarkeesian today, he said that when they beat Michigan in the past, it helped them get to the College Football Playoff. They had gone the previous two years to last year. But then he thought the loss to Ohio State kept them out and he said, if we would have played Jones Junior High School instead of Ohio State, we would have been in the playoff at 10 and two. So I think that's something to keep an eye on this year is does a nine and three SEC team get in over a 10 and two team from say the big 12 or the ACC? I personally don't think so because one thing that's held constant all 10 or 11 years, you know this too. The only thing the selection committee seems to put a great value on is the fewest losses.

Brett, and I look forward to all of the 10 and two versus nine and three debates with the stronger schedules. I'm sure everyone will be very reasonable, very simple come December. But Georgia, you know, a couple of years ago, this was their sport. They've had some disappointing endings in the quarterfinals. It feels like they're a little bit more like Georgia defensively. They've always got skill guys. What's the consensus on Georgia? They bounced back to being an A-list title contender. Give me a thought or two here on the Bulldogs.

Yeah, I think so. I mean, Kirby Smart is really, you know, feels very good about the quarterback position with Gunnar Stockton. He may not wow you with his physical talents, but as far as a leader and all those cliches, they love the kid. He's been there, you know, seems like forever now.
