Surprise, surprise, Boston Red Sox are beating the stuffing out of the A's. Five-nothing, third inning at Fenway Park tonight. And Will Hill, it's difficult to put this in perspective. You think about some of the most impressive win streaks in the history of baseball.
If the Red Sox win tonight, they're gonna be 27-3 over the last 30 games. This is historic, what's happening with the Red Sox.

**Will Hill** (0:46)
It's a team that was 32 and 46, June 24th. This isn't like the Dodgers getting hot or one of these great teams getting hot. This is a team that was probably gonna sell off players. I know we were talking, doing some of these shows that Sonny Gray will probably get moved, Aroldis Chapman will get moved. And why, what did you think that? They're 14 games under 500 with a week left in June, a month to the deadline, about six weeks to the deadline. And here they are, they can't lose.
It's the old saying, you can't predict baseball. You really can't predict baseball. And nobody could have seen this kind of run coming. I know Gil Alexander had them, most wins in June of 81 That's obviously a hell of a bet, but to win it with like a week left and to just have this kind of run, it's incredible. It really is.

**Matt Youmans** (1:26)
Super Dave Ross also had the Red Sox, most wins in the month of June.

**Will Hill** (1:29)
He told me he didn't bet it. He said he liked it. He gave it out, but he never bet it.
What? Yeah.

**Matt Youmans** (1:34)
He gave it out, but he didn't bet it?

**Will Hill** (1:36)
I believe so. I think either the number moved, I'll forget. I'll have to confirm, but I believe that's what he told me.

**Matt Youmans** (1:40)
Hey, this is what you should bet, but I'm not gonna bet it.

**Nick Bogdanovich** (1:44)
Yeah.

**Will Hill** (1:44)
Come on, suit. I think that broccoli affected his brain.

**Matt Youmans** (1:46)
Yeah, that's true. That's true. Vileweed. He eats that vileweed and he's probably got brain rot, but good call, 80 to 1 on the Red Sox. They had most wins in the month of July, it was, right?

**Will Hill** (1:58)
July, yeah.

**Matt Youmans** (1:58)
And actually, the Red Sox had a good shot to have the most wins in the month of August, to do it again, to go back to back. So as I mentioned before, you and I are Yankees fans. We're both disgruntled about the Brian Cashman, Aaron Boone era, Hal Steinbrenner era, if you want to call it, the Three Stooges.
But you have to admire what the Red Sox are doing, and I do. So if you take a deeper dive into why the Red Sox are going to be 27-3 over 30 games, what do you think the reasons are? Now, obviously, in July, they took advantage of the schedule. Yeah, but still 27-3. But still, they won the games, you had to win. That's not easy to do. Here's actually Big Al McMordy tweeted this today and I thought it was an important point to make about the Red Sox. He said, the most important or most impressive fact about this Red Sox streak is that they are 17-0 against teams with winning records.

**Will Hill** (2:52)
Wow.

**Matt Youmans** (2:53)
So they're beating good teams, too, not just beating up on the bombs.

**Will Hill** (2:56)
That's a hell of a stat. And look, anytime you get a run like this, it starts with good pitching. I mean, you get a well-pitched game every day. I know it's kind of a cliche, but it's hard. If you're giving if your starter's giving up four or five runs, you know what? You're not going to win too many games. You're not going to go on this kind of run. You've got to get those six innings, one run, six innings, two run performances, and they've gotten good pitching. Toli's an underrated pitcher. Sonny Gray's pitch well for them. You go down the line, it's just, and they got a good back end of the game too. Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock are good relievers. They don't have a ton of offense. I know they're scoring a bunch of runs tonight. They've got five runs here batting in the bottom of the third, but it's not just one of these lineups that's going to beat you up and down with a ton of power. It's not Manny Ramirez and Big Poppy back in the day.
