Top of the hour, it is VSiN By The Books, Dave Ross and Jensen Lewis coming at you. I'm right here at the Mid-Gaming Hall in Franklin, Kentucky. Our closer Jensen Lewis back home in Cleveland, Ohio. We're going out to Philadelphia this week for UFC 330 That's why I'm rocking my Italian Stallion in honor of Rocky III, those Rocky steps. I want to run them one day. Lou FInocchiaro is joining us out there in Arizona. Joins us on the Progressive Guest Line. Give him a follow on X at Gambloon. He is the host of The Bout Business and the Sneak Teep Podcast, and to join us as he does each and every Friday. Lou, we got two title fights to get to here in the city of Brotherly Shove.
It's a great fight town. You know, they're eager to see this. I know some people don't like the card overall, but when you get two title fights, I know guys like you and me are certainly being excited and try to find some good advantages in those two title fights.
**Lou Finocchiaro** (1:42)
Guys, first of all, thanks for having me on. Dave, I'll run those steps with you, provided there's a Philly cheesesteak at the other end of them, of course.
And then as far as the fight card is concerned, I mean, listen, the UFC puts on 40 to 44, 10 to 12, 14 fight cards a year for us to handicap. I will never crap Ola over a UFC card. Some are thicker and more fertile than others, but everyone deserves its own opportunity. And I feel privileged that they dish that many cards for us each year.
**SPEAKER_1** (2:22)
All right. Well, we are esteemed gentlemen, and we do realize that the rules are rules here, Lou. So ladies first in this regard, at any time you get a Mackenzie Dern weigh in, it is must see TV.
Gillian Robertson, the dog on the other side, I know you and Dave sort of align on where we are here. Your handicap of this fight should be an absolute gem on the main card.
**Lou Finocchiaro** (2:46)
Yeah, I don't know if Dave and I align exactly on this fight.
This is a great fight between a couple of grappling-based fighters, both searching to find their striking game. Dern's striking game, now that she's back with Jason Perrio, is very rudimentary, elementary, I should say.
That said, it's an ocean ahead of the development that Gillian Robertson has. Robertson has very little striking and is inept on her feet. She relies on grappling and wrestling, and unfortunately for Gillian, the level of competition that she has faced doesn't set her up in anywhere near the paragraph that is Mackenzie Dern and the accomplishments that she has made since she was a child. Her dad, Wellington Diaz, is a BJJ savant that's taught her since she was young. And so, I see Dern at minus 230 as an absolute bargain in this fight. The reason it's not lined higher is because when you have 115 pound ladies in a large cage you get a pillow fight and it's going to be a decision. And if it's going to be a decision, who knows what those judges will see. Now, I will say that besides Dern in parlays, I have used Dern via submission at plus 215 To me, that is the likely way that this fight ends. And I just don't see any path to victory for a gal in Jillian Robertson that's taking a step up in her first main event, first five round fight. I just see it to the Dern side.
**Dave Ross** (4:36)
Where we do align here, Lou, in this co-main event, is that somebody is going to get tapped out. I agree. And my favorite play is the under. And I got it at plus $1.40 at four and a half rounds. So I might have to sweat out the final two and a half minutes here, but I don't think we're going to get that far. And to that end, Lou, that number is on the move. The total is on the move. I'm seeing today DraftKings, that's down to three and a half. They've moved that a full round. So you can get plus money now at plus $1.70. I don't like that as much. So I played it earlier in the week at plus $1.40 to the under. Because I do think if we're getting a victory here, either way, somebody's getting tapped. And obviously, the odds would indicate Mackenzie would be the favorite to get that done. And I love what you've done there to get plus money on that side at plus $2.30, because this fight is going down to the ground. And you're looking at the best BJJ practitioner Mackenzie Dern. I just think Jillian might be a little bit tougher in her guard than some do out there. I'll be fascinated to see once that fight does, in fact, hit the ground. In the main event here, Islam Makachev, if you've got a pound for pound list out there, I know some people might put him right there near the very top of it. He's a big favorite against Ian Machado Gary here, minus 3.7 is what we're seeing.
