Victor Wembanyama SNUBBED the National Anthem?! Craig Carton Calls Out Spurs Star on WFAN

Jim Dolan spent the last half hour with us. And you just heard the traffic report there. Obviously, it's going to be a mess in the city tonight, anywhere near the garden or the surrounding streets and avenues. That is not something that's to protect the president. We learned tonight for the first time as well that even when the president was here, the Secret Service did not request, demand, or ask for the amount of security that we had outside the garden. That came from either the mayor's office or from Jessica Tisch, the police commissioner. So, it's a very pointed remarks from the owner of both the garden and the New York Knicks. There's another side story brewing right now as well that I didn't pay attention to during game three that might become an issue for game four. Again, non-basketball related.
Were you aware that Victor Wembanyama blew off the National Anthem in game three?

Neither was I.
I remember he had his hands of his arms folded in game one. Game two in San Antonio. I do remember him being there as well without his arms folded that time. But there's some reports out there now and I don't know why I didn't think of it. It was never referenced during the broadcast that Victor Wembanyama did not come out of the locker room or the tunnel for the National Anthem before game three. Now obviously the National Anthem in the finals is televised. I'm not sure who's singing it tonight. Baby Pete can find out for us. But beyond that, I want it to be interesting to see if he chooses not to be on the court for the National Anthem.

That's what I'm now being told.

Why do I? I mean, it doesn't jump out at me. I remember, I remember us talking about him with his arms folded.

I remember game two, he was, because I was paying attention after we talked about game one. Game two, he had his hands folded in front of his face like this. I do not remember him there or not there in game three.

And now I'm being told that Avery Wilson, who did the game three anthem, is doing the game four anthem as well. He was a bit of a good luck charm for the Knicks. I think they were like six and one or something like that with him singing the anthem. He does a beautiful job of it too.

He does a great job, yeah. I think he does an incredible job.

I want to see if Wembys there. Again, it's not an issue when it comes to the game itself.

It's just another reason not to like him.

I would think so.

So, we'll keep an eye on that tonight.
Right about 8.35 or so when the anthem gets played. But what I love about it is this quote. I expect to win tonight. We're gonna win tonight. We're gonna win the Finals.

Yeah. We gotta have him back on after he does.

That's what I'm talking about.

I think Wembay is the villain already.

Of course, because he's their best player.
And because of the attack on Jalen Brunton. He made himself public enemy number one. 100% right.

And the owner just wanted to really get the point across. Make sure you think it's shut down. You think it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be harder than you think. Make sure you're there in time.

So the mayor's office has now released the permit application that the garden put out. And I asked Jim about that directly. And it is for up to a thousand people, 500 to 999 people. So I guess that's, you know, if more people come, more people come, obviously. But that's the permit. So the mayor, I guess, is playing some games here, where I got the same permit that the garden had asked for. But you're not getting any TV screens out there. So the watch party tonight is effectively off.
