Ticker Tape, Trash, and Twerking at Knicks' Parade

Didn't it seem to you in all the videos you saw that there was no ticker tape?

There certainly wasn't a lot of it. No, I didn't see much of it falling from the sky.

It seemed like we forgot the ticker tape part of the ticker tape parade. Because the Yankees had it, the Giants had it, and it's not actual ticker tape anymore, it's just cut up paper. It is a company in Brooklyn that does it. And I know that you had Department of Sanitation on the ready to clean it all up as the parade went through the Canteen of Heroes.
But I just noticed again, all the coverage I see and all the videos, we were a block away, so we were not on the parade route, obviously.
There was no paper, or very little paper, I should say. There was just a little observation I had. I'm not sure if you picked up on that.

At the staging, I didn't see a lot of it just as you were going through the parade, no.

Now, how does that work? Do they give it to the people?

They bring it to the buildings, the tenants of the buildings, and they're like, hey, you don't have to, but hey, the parade's coming through, you know, 1030, whatever time we expect to be on the part of Broadway, here's a bunch of paper, throw it out the window. And that's typically what's happened. And I didn't see any paper, really.

I mean, a little bit, a teeny bit, but not like I've seen in the past, ticker tape parades.

It did not look like as the floats were going by, like, you know, falling from the sky.

I guess that's not a bad thing, but the image of that paper coming down is awesome, usually. So just a little observation I had, I guess we should stop calling it a ticker tape parade.

When you're trying to squeeze millions of people into one road, maybe it should go to a longer road so you can fit more people. Instead of capping it to 2 million, more people could have enjoyed yesterday.

Just because something was done in 1930 doesn't mean that's still the best situation for today.

I agree. I would say the majority of evolutionary decisions we've made as a society, I support the majority of them. Some I don't.
There's a handful I don't. I don't think we need to change the parade route because some people couldn't make it to Broadway. I didn't make it to Broadway. You don't hear me bitching. You didn't make it to Broadway. You're not complaining.

It went off fairly well.

I think there's only 10 arrests the entire day in the city.

That is an astounding number considering the amount of people, the amount of cops.

And I don't think the girl twerking was one of them. And I saw something, by the way.
