Good morning, everyone, and welcome to MidDays, SuperTalk Mississippi. I'm your host, Gerard Gibert, along with Will East in the Element Wealth Studio, guiding you through the middle of your day with facts, fodder, and fine music.
On this is where I know it's Say Friday, y'all. Morning there, Will.

**Will East** (1:22)
Very humid one, and you know, normally the guy who's out there on the road, playing in bands, you know, doing events on Wednesday and Thursday, usually they take Friday off. Not the guy sitting in the air conditioned booth.

**Gerard Gibert** (1:39)
That's true.

**Will East** (1:40)
But I guess today is the opposite.

**Gerard Gibert** (1:42)
It's opposite. That's right. That's right. Rhino had to stay here and hold the fort down, as they say, while we broadcast MidDays from the heart of the Neshoba County Fair right there at Founders Square.
And it was an unusual Neshoba County Fair in that we fought the rain more than we did the heat. Typically, that's what we're dealing with. But it was often on rain the whole time. I mean, what are you going to do? Nothing you can do about that. So God bless Scott Bounds, Representative Scott Bounds. He, of course, the president of the Neshoba County Fair. And I know he was stressed out the whole time about it. He was on the program yesterday in the final segment. Sid Salter, I appreciate him filling in in the final segment of yesterday's broadcast so I could make my way over to the stage, get ready to play a little music. But he, of course, visited with Scott.
And Scott, man, you did your best. And you did great, honestly. So given all of the challenges, I thought you mitigated them well and handled them well. We got relocated, the band did, because the horse racing got behind due to the rain. And so to get the horse racing in, to make sure they got all that complete, it's a big part of the fair, as you know. They relocated us to the pavilion instead of the stage there on the infield of the track. And it was fine. I mean, we set everything up, had a little concert, and everything worked great. So that was at 1.3 yesterday. I got my, if you're watching, I've got my house band shirt on today, commemorating the event. Shout out to my bandmates.
They were on it. You know, it's one of those deals, Will, that when you perform, you sort of do a little self-evaluation. And I walked away yesterday feeling pretty good about our performance.
I thought we were tight. And the Speaker of the House, Jason White, was in attendance, and he shared with Representative Dan, pardon me, with Representative Joseph Tubb from the Lamar County, Hattiesburg area, said that you guys get better every time. So there you go. A lot of fun, though. The fair, of course, was great. And man, did we ever talk to a lot of people over a couple of days.

**Will East** (4:09)
Well, I was going to ask you what kind of was the scuttlebutt. It was just, is it future races? Is it?

**Gerard Gibert** (4:14)
There wasn't any. I mean, if you're looking for, like, some revelations or announcements or shocks or surprises or news, I didn't see any, didn't hear any. And of course, we got Caleb Saylor's multimedia journalist, SuperTalk Mississippi News. He attended yesterday. He's coming on with us at 1120 We'll get his take. But nothing that, you know, is just bombshell breaking news. Nobody announced for anything except Treasurer David McGray, announced on my show on Wednesday. He is a candidate for Mississippi State Treasurer for a third term. So no surprise, they're done with without a lot of fanfare.
But that's probably it. And we also had two Supreme Court justices, I got to tell this, scheduled to come on the show, Justice Kenny Griffiths and Justice Jennifer Branning. And you know how it is. Well, if you haven't been over there, folks, when those guys are on the stage speaking, we typically, our content director, Alex Payton, schedules them right when their speech is complete, come over to the set, talk to us. But inevitably, they get detained. It's hard. Even that 30-yard walk or so, and she goes out, literally, physically grabs them and brings them over.
