My dad was butt naked. It was like 10 p.m. Chasing my brother through the forest.

**Eddie Hall** (0:36)
I remember you once said on... Was it Joe Rogan saying that deadlifts were pointless?

**Robert Oberst** (0:41)
I didn't say it like that. All I ever wanted to do was I wanted to be a history teacher and I wanted to coach high school football. I can do this. This right here. I promise you I will use this as a platform to do something. I promise you. And I promised her right there. And she got all teary-eyed and from there, it took me less than eight months to be at World's. Wow.

**Eddie Hall** (1:10)
Hey, everyone, welcome back to The Good, The Bad and The Beast. Today's guest is one of the biggest personalities Strongman has ever produced. A former American football player turned elite Strongman, known for his world-class log press and even bigger opinions. Please welcome to the podcast, Mr. Robert O'Brie.

**Robert Oberst** (1:28)
Thank you, thank you.

**Eddie Hall** (1:30)
How you doing?

**Robert Oberst** (1:30)
I didn't know, my opinions, I guess some of them are bigger than my log press. You know, I don't know. I mean, Eddie did ask me to wear this shirt because he was afraid he'd go to jail if he did. So I put it on in support of my English brothers who can't speak out for themselves. This one's for you guys.

**Eddie Hall** (1:50)
Yeah, if I wore that shirt, I would literally be handcuffed and bundled into a van.

**Robert Oberst** (1:55)
In America, we get like the brunt of like, oh, people think you're a stupid American, right? And it really feels kind of like no matter where you are, you get kind of presented as like the little brother, like, oh, you're the one that's messing up. You're the stupid one that couldn't get your graves and kicked off the football team or whatever. Like, we're like the stupid little brother, or you guys in England, you feel like you're the stupid little brother. And whenever I travel to Canada, Canadians, they're embarrassed too.

**Eddie Hall** (2:29)
I feel, I feel it.

**Robert Oberst** (2:31)
Yeah, it gets wild, man. And it does, it does feel more and more like it's like spinning out of control with us, not even at the wheel. But, yeah, man, that's, that's all anybody's talking about.

**Eddie Hall** (2:44)
Yeah. So just for those listening in, Robert Oberst is wearing a t-shirt that says England sucks and massive capital letters.

**Robert Oberst** (2:52)
I'll tell you the truth too. The truth is I made this shirt because, man, like three or four years ago, you and I were supposed to do a thing in England. I can't remember what it was. It was like a one-off event or something. So I went and got these shirts made, and then the lockdown happened. So this is five years ago, and I didn't get to go to England. And I remember just putting on every interview I had, I'd wear them just because I had them now.

**Eddie Hall** (3:28)
Where are you in the world, Oberst?

**Robert Oberst** (3:30)
I'm in Idaho. I freaking love it. Idaho is kind of like Mormon's Texas.

**Eddie Hall** (3:38)
Mormon's Texas, that's nice. Is it Texas or is it needs Texas?

**Robert Oberst** (3:42)
It is similar. It doesn't have the food Texas has, I'll tell you that. But all the rules and regulations, as far as like constitutional carry and stuff is here and all that kind of stuff, like, it's all basically saying it's a lot more religious than Texas, at least openly. So like right now, if you talk to people, oh, I can't believe how fucking political I'm being about this. Right now, if you talk to people in Texas, the conservative people are like super religious, but they don't tell you, like they want to make rules about abortion and everything, but they don't want to have the discussion and be like, look, I feel like it's a baby or look, I don't feel like it's a baby. They just want to use oil money to quietly make that illegal. Right. Okay. In Idaho, it's more like Mormons. Like there's the BYU Idaho and there's a lot of, there's three Mormon temples in the areas.
