Well, hey, y'all, welcome to today's episode of Every Mom Needs a Friend. Happy Monday, happy Tuesday, happy Wednesday, keep going. Hopefully, you're having a wonderful day wherever you are. I am sitting here in my parents' house in an empty home because we have moved over to our house. And I just realized with Christopher trying to cut the grass and the girls, you know, bee bopping around the house, it's really just not conducive to a quiet environment to record this for y'all, for me.
So I wanted to jump over here to my parents' house so that we can do a quick catch up before we get into the meat of today's episode. So Instagram heard this first, but we had this huge setback in our house, huge setback in the renovation process where we had, you know, all these things lined up. I did not realize that with renovations, one thing getting out of line domino affects almost the whole renovation. I think if we didn't have a GC, it would be even more so. So sometimes I'm like, oh, could I be doing this myself? And then weeks like the past couple of weeks have showed me, wow, it's really nice that I am working alongside someone who does this for his job. But it was just a little bit of a tough week where, you know, we have our cabinets set and we're excited. Be sure to be following on Instagram because I've been doing a crazy job of updating y'all. I've been trying my best and it's been really sweet. But we had the cabinets fixed and the island size was incorrect. It was cut wrong. Some of the edges were wrong. It was a, they said, a 1200 pound. I'm like, is that a ton? Is a ton, 1200? Is a ton a thousand? I don't know. 1200 pound piece of quartz. I always go back and forth. Is it quartz? Is it quartz? I can't remember. Big slab of stone that the sink was cut in the wrong spot and it was two inches too short. I believe on both sides. So it was one of those things where it's got sat down and I'm watching the cabinets just like I'm worried that the cabinets are going to shift, that they're going to break because it's so heavy. And I'm like, these four guys, they're going to have to pick it back up. Took them a couple of days because they wanted to recut a different slab, set it down, you know, transform out just a quick slip of the hand. And it was just one of those like I mean, I stood in the corner and I had a video. I think I talked about this on the Instagram, but I had a video that I deleted because it was horrible to watch my fear in my eyes as they laid it down and I knew it was wrong. It was tough. It was it was one of those days where I was like, this is going to be the day that's going to give me all the joy. And it didn't not just because it was cut wrong, but because I was just like so seeking this house being done as the way I'm going to feel settled and supported and joyful. So I get into that in today's episode. But that week led into a super planned out weekend, like a true fall weekend where it started on a Thursday. I had a Samford alumni event and it was amazing. Actually, that morning was my first Moms in Prayer. I'm leading a Moms in Prayer group at Ellie School. So I had that on Thursday morning. Thursday night was the Samford alumni event. Christopher and I went to Samford University in Birmingham. So it was so fun to jump into that and I'm on the planning board thing. So we had an event that night, which was so fun. Then the next day was a crazy day and then led into my cookbook club for October, which was so settling and so sweet. But it's like, you know, when you tail end all these crazy things. And then we had on Saturday, we had a Keeneland Day, which Keeneland is a local racetrack, I should say. It's not where like the Kentucky Derby is held, but it's in a nearby town and it was so much fun. It was a morning of hanging with our like 15 friends. And then that night, going to the UK game. So I think we left Louisville at like 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and didn't get back till 1 30 a.m., I guess, Sunday morning. So that was a crazy day. Big shout out to my friend, Tannis, who drove us home. Her sweet little pregnant self and me and Kailin slept in the back of the car. It was amazing. And then let's see, Sunday was Boo at the Zoo. So you probably have a Boo at the Zoo in your city, but where the kiddos dress up. And I was, wow, overwhelmed with that. That was a chaotic night. Like it was so fun and the girls loved being at the zoo. They loved the candy, but kind of the treacherousness of keeping track of all your kids. And it's kind of like a narrow way to, you know, bob and weave, I guess, through the zoo. Because I had all the characters and all the lines. And just I felt overwhelmed. I really felt overstimulated being there. So maybe we don't do it next year. I'm not sure.
