This is Ready Set Bet with Matt Brown and Mike Somich on VSiN, the SportsBetting Network.
**Matt Brown** (0:18)
I'm number two, Ready Set Bet here on VSiN, the SportsBetting Network. Matt Brown, Mike Somich on the desk here, live in Las Vegas as we get ready for some big races here. Mike throwing in some bets. We'll get you the official picks, a little bit later, as I go race horse shopping.
**Mike Somich** (0:32)
Yeah.
**Matt Brown** (0:32)
Trying to buy me some shares of a horse.
**Mike Somich** (0:36)
I do have to say, I do like, micro share of horse purchasing is a lot of fun. It's not an investment.
**Matt Brown** (0:42)
I was gonna say, it's just more of a sweat, right? You're buying better sweat equity.
**Mike Somich** (0:46)
Correct. And you get special treatment when you're at the racetrack. If your horse wins you there, you get to go in the winner's circle. There are meetups before the race. You can go visit the horse at the barn, all those kinds of things. A lot of fun. But yes, if you are investing in race horses and you are not a multi-billionaire or hundreds of millions, you're not using as a tax rate off, it is a losing proposition.
Just plain and simple, you're going to lose money in the long run, unless you get ridiculously lucky and you hit that one lightning strike jackpot horse. That being said, my dad owned a piece of authentic through my race horse. He won the Kentucky Derby.
**Matt Brown** (1:21)
There you go.
**Mike Somich** (1:21)
He was pretty happy and he's not making a bunch of money, but that gives you interesting sweat in that space where you get excited about certain horses.
**Matt Brown** (1:30)
Aptitude and athleticism, he is the complete package, is what they're talking about here with this one.
**Mike Somich** (1:34)
Yeah, I mean, they do a very good job of hyping the crap out of these horses when they were doing the write-ups.
**Matt Brown** (1:39)
He was purchased for $800,000 though.
**Mike Somich** (1:43)
Yeah, you'd hope he's pretty good. Honestly, so what was the sire?
**Matt Brown** (1:46)
Tis the law.
**Mike Somich** (1:47)
Tis the law, very good sire. Not this time would be the sire I would be shopping for if I were you, but tis the law right up there. Very good horse.
**Matt Brown** (1:54)
Yeah, so we'll have some picks here for you in a little bit, circling back around to Major League Baseball. But before we get there, we do, you know, people letting us know here on the Twitter machine that the old fashioned conversation that I should just stick to Buffalo Trace and then step it up to the table side smoked at Barry's. Now we will be at Barry's a little bit later this evening. That being said, I'll let you know, I'm not gonna do the table side smoked. And I know people frown upon this.
The same reason that whenever Justin was talking about how he really likes to taste the bourbon in it. So it's the same thing with me as to why I don't smoke it. Because then it's like you almost only taste the smoke. Like it overpowers the taste of the bourbon to me. And so I like just a straight bourbon old fashioned without the smoke because I like to taste the bourbon.
**Mike Somich** (2:44)
You realize I am going to order you a Mascato old fashioned. Oh, no.
**Matt Brown** (2:47)
No, no.
**Mike Somich** (2:47)
Make you drink that thing.
**Matt Brown** (2:49)
No chance. That's just I can't do it.
**Mike Somich** (2:52)
I mean, it's just it's we got we got two minutes to raise to smoky, by the way. Two minutes to raise to it. Saratoga. I did put in a little effect. A little fun.
Who is your favorite? Very, very good in the morning. He's a first time starters. I did put the four on top. I put the three. He was 11 to 1 in the five, who was 9 to 2 in second and third. So four with 3, 5, 3, 5 in the trifecta. Try and run the eight out. Who is your second choice? See if we can get a little bit of value.
**Matt Brown** (3:14)
There we go.
**Mike Somich** (3:16)
Not going crazy. We're funsies betting right now. We're funsies betting.
**Matt Brown** (3:18)
We'll get to the stuff that we like a little bit later here. It's fun talking to the NFL.
Certainly, especially when it's like minded stuff.
**Mike Somich** (3:27)
I mean, I would love to know. We got to talk more about this division at some point.
